Android 2.2 on HTC Desire From Today

We posted a little while ago, a few comment regarding Android 2.2 arriving for the HTC Desire. Its always rather mind-boggling to think why delays such as Android updates can take months to launch for the latest handsets. But nevertheless, as of today, those who own the HTC Desire will finally be getting their long awaited update with thanks to the UK network Three.

Advent Vega Android 2.2 Tablet

The Advent Vega is an Android 2.2 tablet that will begin to ship in the UK on October 18th. The tablet specs were put online at Modaco and the tablet will be launched by PC World and Currys with a price tag of £249.

The technical specs of the Advent Vega Tablet show that it runs an NVIDIA T20 Tegra 2 chip inside. It is clocked at 1GHz. RAM and ROM are 512MB each and the included micro SD card has a capacity of 4GB. [Read more…]

Three HTC Desire Android 2.2 Update Release Date – 14 October

Those users who have a HTC Desire on the Three network in the UK, you can expect the Android 2.2 update to be made available on October 14th at 9am UK time.

The official Three UK account on Twitter made it official saying that the version will be numbered v2.25.25.771.1 and will launch 10/14 at 16:00 TW time…

Android 3.0 Gingerbread SDK Could Land Next Week

The Android Police website is reporting that the next version of Android OS could be landing soon. The SDK has been tipped to launch next week for Android 3.0 Gingerbread although the numbering isn’t confirmed as 3.0 just yet.

Samsung Transform gets Full QWERTY and Runs Stock Android

A document leaked shows a few more details about the Samsung Transform. The Transform is seen in the documentation sporting a four row QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard looks similar to what is being used in the Samsung Epic 4G.

The documents also reveal that the Transform will run a stock version of Android 2.2 rather than a modified UI such as TouchWiz. This of course could change when the device lands, but for now it appears that stock is the way forwards for the device. [Read more…]

Motorola DROID Pro Announced

As can be seen already today, Motorola [MOT] is launching another device called the Motorola DROID Pro. The DROID Pro is described as being a “mobile office in your pocket” and has a number of features that allow you to keep connected to business whilst on the move.

It runs the Android 2.2 operating system, it has a QWERTY keyboard on the front of the device that allows for quick text entry when replying to text messages or emails and it has all the usual connectivity such as Wireless, Bluetooth as well as DNLA for pushing media wirelessly around your home. Motorola Spice Android Smatphone Announced

Motorola [MOT] has announced the Motorola Spice. The Spice is a portrait slider QWERTY device that runs the Android 2.1 operating system. It has a 3 megapixel camera on the back that has a fixed focus and 8x digital zoom.

Memory wise, the camera has 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and it also has a microSD card slot allowing for a further 32GB of storage to be added.

Fring just released an update for Android that brings FringOut to the service. FringOut for Android lands at the same time as Skype for Android which indicates some battle between them is starting.

Prices for calls in the US start at 1c/min which matches Skype. Fring claim no hidden fees and that the 1c is the final amount rather than a 15% VAT surcharge.
