Lightweight Version of Angry Birds Hitting Android
Rovio has announced that a new version of Angry Birds will be launching for Android smartphones. This particular version will be a light weight version that can run on low powered devices such as the older T-Mobile G1.
“We are aware that a number of our fans have had trouble running the game on their devices. For example, some older and lower performance Android devices are experiencing severe performance issues. We are preparing a new solution for the next update … This does not mean lighter gameplay or a lesser amount of levels, but a game experience optimized for devices with less processing power.” Rovio Mobile
Google Docs on Android 2.2 and iOS Editing Coming Soon
Google [GOOG] has announced an update to the Google Docs web service for those accessing it from an iOS or Android 2.2 device. As of yesterday, those running the said devices now have the ability to edit documents whilst on the move.
iOS 3.0 is what is needed for those on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. For those running Android devices, the service requires that you are running at least Android 2.2 (ie, the current latest version). [Read more…]
LG Dual-Core Tegra 2 Android Spotted
Engadget managed to get hold of some pictures showing an upcoming LG smartphone. The new device has a dual-core Tegra 2 chip inside along with the ability to capture 1080p video thanks to its 8 megapixel camera.

LG Vortex Android Phone Announced
LG Has announced the LG Vortex. The Vortex is an Android 2.2 device that has a 3.2 inch screen along with 3G/Wi-Fi connectivity.
The device runs the latest version of Android and comes pre-loaded with Bing Search and Bing Maps. With it running Android 2.2, the phone can also work as a wireless 3G hotspot for several devices to connect up to and share an internet connection. [Read more…]

Dell Streak Android 2.2 Update Arriving November
Those of you in the UK with a Dell Streak will be glad to know that Dell has announced an OTA update for the device that will finally bring Android 2.2 to the tablet.
The update has been given an end of November release date. The following has been said about the update…
“DellStreak will begin a rollout of the 2.2 update OTA before the end of Nov. This is happening over a period of time and staggered by region, starting in the UK.You will receive notification of the update directly on your Streak. If you don’t see it before the end of Nov, please be patient as your build may be happening at a later stage.”
Netflix for Android Could Arrive in 2011
Netflix is already available on the iPhone and other iOS based devices as well as Windows and a number of consoles. We now hear that Netflix will continue to grow by being made available on Android based smartphones sometime in 2011.

Run Android on your iPad with OpeniBoot
OpeniBoot is some software that allows you to run the Google Android OS on your iPad or iPhone 4, or what we should say is that it will eventually be the doorway to letting you install Android on iOS devices.
The software is still in early stages of development and not quite ready yet from what we understand. However, a video has been created (and embedded below) that shows OpeniBoot opening up an iPad for usage. What OpeniBoot is, is the open source version of the bootrom on iOS devices. Samsung Android 2.3 Smartphone Launching Early 2011
Samsung is believed to be launching a new flagship phone early in 2011. The name is unknown at the moment although the image below shows some details indicating that it will launch in February 2011 and run the Google Android 2.3 OS called Gingerbread.
Other details indicate it will have a Super AMOLED screen called sAMOLED2 which indicates its a second gen screen. That screen measures 4.5 inches and has a WVGA resolution. We also see details of a smaller 4.3 inch screen also being a possibility. [Read more…]

Android Market Share Jumps to 25.5 Percent
Gartner released some numbers showing the 3rd quarter sales of various smartphones listed by OS. Top of the list is Symbian that took 36.6% market share. Android followed just behind that taking 25.5% with iOS following at 16.7 percent.
These numbers indicate a huge growth for Android which in the same quarter of 2009 was at just 3.5% market share. [Read more…]
