We have heard a lot recently about the Google Nexus One (N1) which has been rumoured to be launching soon. Finally we have the official specs to go along with what looks to be a fantastic phone.
The Nexus One will be a tri-band phone (900/1700/2100 MHz) UTMS and quad-band GSM which allows it to work on the T-Mobile network in the US. Yesterday we came across a few more pictures of the Nexus One. One that stood out was the N1 pictures here which had the QR code revealed on the back. Previously this image was covered with post-it notes so nobody knew what was behind it.
Gizmodo managed to get to spend some time with the Google Phone AKA Nexus One. The N1 is built by HTC and is described by Gizmodo as being a Motorola DROID killer in all ways. The phone has no physical keyboard making it very thin. It’s fast and managed to beat both the DROID and iPhone in web page load speeds consistently.

Late last week, Google [GOOG] handed out new phones to some employees which some are calling the official Google Phone. The phone is actually called the Nexus One and runs the Android 2.1 operating system that offers a few enhancements over what the DROID uses, ie, Android 2.0.
VMWare are known for allowing multiple desktops to run on a computer by virtualizing the operating systems. The company are now bringing the same type of software to smartphones that will allow the phones to run a couple of OS’s at the same time.
Expansys in the UK are now selling the Motorola MILESTONE (aka, DROID in the US). According to SlashGear, eXpansys currently have an exclusive agreement in place that gives them full rights to selling the phone. You can choose to have the phone unlocked where it will set you back £449.99, or chose to buy a subsidized model which will lower the price, but lock you in to a contract for a certain amount of time.
The Acer Liquid A1 has gone on sale in the UK at various online stores. Originally the A1 was reported as having a 1GHz Snapdrahon processor although looking at the specs now it seems Acer have clocked it at 768MHz to probably save on battery life.

Google [GOOG] have launched a new web service for mobile phones called Google Goggles. The program is free and available now from the Android Market. What Google Goggles does is allow you to take a picture of an object and then Google uses the image to try find a match in it’s vast library of cached images. By mixing the captured image with GPS you also get location based services. An example here could be taking a picture of a shop front with Google then working out where you are and providing details on the local shop.
