The standard everyday credit card may soon be a thing of the past. For starters, ‘smart’ cards look and feel like the credit cards you may already have in your wallet but with the addition of a micro processor embedded within the card itself. This allows information to be stored on the card in much the same way as a magnetic strip (which will usually run along the back of the card). The difference here is that more than one set of information can be stored on a card at the same time thus also giving the user the ability to switch between them depending on which account is to be used to pay for something whether it be a credit card account, debit or savings account.

Vibrating Car Seats Help Prevent Accidents
John Morrell is a researcher over at Yale University who is working on a system which is able to warn drivers of dangers by vibrating a car seat.
The system uses a bunch of cell phone vibration motors attached to the underside of the seat. The system vibrates each time a car approaches allowing drivers to know when to look more closely for dangers that might be lurking.
While driving the motors are going all the time at a slow speed and when a car approaches the motors speed up. As well as speeding up the system detects what side of the road the car is coming at you. For example, if a car is pulling out of a drive way then one side will vibrate more and if a car passes on the other side of the road the other side of motors will vibrate more to let you know where the danger is. Samsung Wave S8500 in Germany Contains a Virus on Mem Card
The Samsung Wave S8500 started shipping recently in Germany and those who purchased it could be in for a surprise as it is believed many of the devices have been infected with a virus. The virus is on the microSD memory card that ships with the smartphone and it contains the Win32/Heur virus that effects computers that use autorun.
It isn’t known how the virus got there although we suspect that it was put there in the factory when the memory cards were perhaps tested. Maybe one of the machines used to test cards contained a virus, or perhaps they were purposely planted on there by someone. [Read more…]
