HP to Build More TouchPads

HP has announced that it will build more TouchPad tablets. Before you start to think that they have changed their minds on shutting the tablet business down, we will warn you that this will be a final run.

Before I share, let me first say thank you for enthusiasm for this product. Since we announced the price drop, the number of inquiries about the product and the speed at which it disappeared from inventory has been stunning. I think it’s safe to say we were pleasantly surprised by the response.

QuickOffice for HP TouchPad Launched

QuickOffice for the HP TouchPad has received an update. The new version allows Microsort Word and Excel spreadsheets to be edited. Prior to this update all documents were read only which was an original disappointment with the software.

iPhone 5 Going to Sprint

The WSJ is reporting today that when the iPhone 5 is released, it will also be made available to those on the Sprint network. If this ends up being a correct report then Sprint will become the third official carrier in the US to get the iPhone. This of course follows the original AT&T and Verizon networks.

iPhone 5 Likely to be Dual-Mode for CDMA and GSM Networks

When the iPhone 5 is announced, one of the details that will likely be included is the device supporting both GSM and CDMA networks. Since the launch of the iPhone 4 on Verizon earlier this year that particular model has used a Qualcomm chip inside for CDMA. It is believed that Apple will use Qualcomm in a dual-mode device so that it is compatible on both types of networks.

Upgrade Select Intel CPU Models via Software

Intel is beginning to offer (again) a CPU that can be upgraded by software. If you look back to last year, Intel provided a software update that cost $50 that allowed you to add an extra 1MB of L3 cache to your CPU. This year, the company is bringing the service to three Intel CPUs. As well as upgrading cache, the software update will also unlock some extra speed for the CPU. Android Ice Cream Sandwich Screenshots Leak

Some screenshots reveal that Android Ice Cream Sandwich has been leaked. The screenshots show the new version of the Android operating system running on a Google Nexus S smartphone.

Several changes include a new notification bar and a new colour scheme. The about screen also indicates that Google hasn’t come up with a version number for the operating system yet although we’ve seen speculation in the past.

Chrome OS Update Rolls Out

Google has rolled out a Chrome OS update that makes it faster at resuming and brings a few new features. Google begins its announcement by saying:
