If you are a user of the Sony PSP (Playstation Portable) then you will be familier with how XMB works.

BodyGard Micro Tool

The BodyGard micro tool is a keychain unit which can help you in several critical situations where you need to get out of your car. In the extremly compact device there is a glass breaker, seat belt cutter, 140dB panic alarm, bright flashing LED and an emergency red flashing light. Sounds cool. I want to try the glass smasher 🙂

BodyGard

When trapped in a vehicle you just strike the base of the device against the glass which releases a spring loaded steel pin. It will not release accidently. There is an attachment which uncovers the cutter to get you out of the seat belt if stuck.

The bodygard tool glows in the dark and is water resistant.

Solar Powered Radio

The solar powered radio uses the sun to keep it going. However, it does have a backup battery in there which is a AAA battery. It’s bascically just a standard AM/FM radio which can be tuned by way of roll overs located on each side of the device. The volume is also a manual control. The radio is small at 9 x 6.5 x 2cm. Coolest-gadgets have a size comparison on the link below which will show it next to a deck of cards.

Siemens Road Sign Reader

This new technology from Siemens looks interesting. It is designed for your car and has a camera built in which reads road signs, processes the image, displays the speed on your screen and tells you if you are over or under the spead limit for that particular road. It makes me wonder if it can detect the good old national speed limit signs here in the UK which can mean either 60 or 70 depending on what type of road you are on 🙂

USB Rechargable Battery

Moxia have come up with a genius idea of making a battery that can be charged via USB. The batter is an actual AA battery with the top part which flips open to reveal the USB connector. Just plug the USBCell in to your PC/Laptop and it will charge. They cost around £12.99 for a pair which is not bad considering you do not need to carry around a battery charger.

USBCell

The down side of the batteries are that they are not as powerful as rechargeables which are already lower then regular AA batteries. Still, I think this is a good idea and very handy to have a couple of these around in emergencies.

iBreath, your iPod-powered breathalyzer

The iBreath is a device which connects to your iPod. The device has a tube sticking out of the side so you can blow down it to measure your alchohol content level. This is accurate to 0.01 BAC. To add a twist to this, the device doubles up as an FM transmitter. It makes you wonder if the device will not work when your level is too high 🙂

iBreath

The iBreath costs $50 although I think 1 drink is too many to drive! So be careful out there.

Sony Ericsson P990

The P990 is expected to hit the market very soon. This smartphone is truly amazing. It has more features then any other phone on the market and most of us tend to love more features as it cuts down the number of items you need to carry around with you.

Among these features is a 2 megapixel camera with auto focus. It has a second camera as it works over 3G networks and can make video calls. It has a QWERTY keyboard, memory stick slot and features an FM radio with RDS. It runs the latest Symbian OS (version 9.1) and has a nice 2.76″ TFT screen.

What I also love about this phone is it’s wifi support which will surely be a hit.
