Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note smartphone. The device is a little larger than an average smartphone in that it has a large 5.3 inch screen. One of the unique feature of the device is that it has been designed to use a stowaway pen so that notes can be taken (hence the Galaxy Note name).

Samsung has announced that the Samsung Galaxy II is headed to the US. Rather than launching the standard Galaxy S II, variants will arrive on each network which includes T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. The device is not yet coming to Verizon.

The Motorola Defy+ is the next update to the original Motorola Defy. The + adds a few new features to the popular smartphone. The Defy+ was first announced when Google announced the acquisition of Motorola.

HTC is likely to announce a new smartphone in London next week called the HTC Omega. The Omega is a Windows Phone 7 device that is rumoured to have have a 3.8 inch SLCD screen along with an 8 megapixel camera.
iPhone 5 Going to Sprint
The WSJ is reporting today that when the iPhone 5 is released, it will also be made available to those on the Sprint network. If this ends up being a correct report then Sprint will become the third official carrier in the US to get the iPhone. This of course follows the original AT&T and Verizon networks.
iPhone 5 Likely to be Dual-Mode for CDMA and GSM Networks
When the iPhone 5 is announced, one of the details that will likely be included is the device supporting both GSM and CDMA networks. Since the launch of the iPhone 4 on Verizon earlier this year that particular model has used a Qualcomm chip inside for CDMA. It is believed that Apple will use Qualcomm in a dual-mode device so that it is compatible on both types of networks.
Prototype HTC Holiday Spotted
A prototype of the HTC Holiday has been spotted on the Craigslist website. The device, pictured below, will be going to the AT&T network when it launches.
56 Million iPhone Orders Made for 2H11 – Half to be iPhone 5
Apple is believed to have increased its order of 50 million iPhones for the second half of 2011 up to 56 million. Digitimes reports that about half of these orders are for the new iPhone 5 model which could launch next month. The other half are expected to be a mixture of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
Android Ice Cream Sandwich Screenshots Leak
Some screenshots reveal that Android Ice Cream Sandwich has been leaked. The screenshots show the new version of the Android operating system running on a Google Nexus S smartphone.
Several changes include a new notification bar and a new colour scheme. The about screen also indicates that Google hasn’t come up with a version number for the operating system yet although we’ve seen speculation in the past.
