Report Hints at Two New iPads This Year

Digitimes is reporting that there will be two new iPad models launched this year. When they say two models, they don’t just mean black and white or 3G vs non-3G. They actually mean that a second and cheaper iPad will be launched to target the mid-range price of $299. The main difference will be that the high-end model which is priced around that of the current iPad 2 will have a higher resolution screen. Both the high-end and mid-range models will use the Apple A6 processor.

More Details Revealed about Nokia Lumia 900 Ace

The mockup image below shows what the Nokia Lumia 900 could look like. The device is expected to launch soon and be a follow on from the Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone. The new details reveal that it will likely run the Windows Phone Mango operating system rather than Tango which was previously mentioned.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus Announced

Samsung has unveiled a new smartphone called the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus. The new device appears to be a mid-range device in terms of specs in that it has a 3.65 inch HVGA screen with a resolution of just 320 x 480 pixels. The screen uses TFT technology. It isn’t clear why Samsung have opted for a low resolution screen when compared to the high-end models, but it could (or will likely) mean that the device will cost a lot less when it launches.

LG Prada 3.0 Pictures Leak Before Event

The LG Prada 3.0 has leaked. The phone below shows what LG will reveal later on today at an event in London. The device is built by LG with input from Prada. It has a dual-core 1GHz processor along with a 4.3 inch NOVA display that has a WVGA resolution.

Apple to Launch iPad 3 in April – No Surprise There (Rumour)

A report today indicates that the iPad 3 will be launched by Apple in 3 – 4 months time. This comes as no real surprise really as April 2012 will be about a year since the iPad 2 launched and 2nd year before the original iPad.

DigiTimes comments that the parts needed to build the iPad 3 have started to arrive at the factory. As well as new parts arriving, orders are also supposedly being decreased for the iPad 2.

Android Market Hits 10 Billion Downloads

The graph below shows the speed at which Android users are downloading apps on the Android Market. Just by looking at the graph you’ll see that there has been a tremendous amount of growth this past year. In March there were 3 billion total downloads followed by another 1.5 billion by May and another 1.5 billion to July. In December this number has just hit 10 billion total downloads.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Teardown Complete

iFixit managed to get hold of a Galaxy Nexus early thanks to someone in the UK. In the US the new smartphone hasn’t even launched yet.

As always, iFixit has taken the device apart to see what it looks like inside and also to look at what chip numbers are used as well as determine how easy the new device is to repair.

HTC Ville Pictured – Thinnest Smartphone from HTC

The image below is of a new device which is believed to be called the HTC Ville. The new device claims to be one of (or the) thinnest smartphone measuring just 8mm thin. That beats the iPhone 4S which is 9.3mm thick and the Galaxy S II which is 8.49mm at its thinnest point.

Apple Preparing iOS 5.0.2 For Launch with New Battery Fixes

When Apple [AAPL] launched iOS 5.0.1 recently the update fixed the battery problems for some users while broke them for others and made no change for others. For myself, my battery now does last longer although I think Apple still has some work to do to fine tune it. We now hear that iOS 5.0.2 is currently being worked on although it hasn’t been released to developers yet.
