Over in Germany the ASUS Eee PC 1001P has just been made available for pre-order costing ‚¬249 which is the equivalent of about $357 USD.

The netbook runs Windows XP rather than Windows 7 which we would have expected. It also has a smaller standard battery capacity than other models which will probably restrict usage to below 10 hours. When we first wrote about the best netbooks available a few months back the ASUS Eee 1005HA was at the top of Amazon’s netbook charts. Another check today shows that the netbook still holds the top spot firmly without any signs of shifting from the top spot. A lot of this is due to it being a good all-round netbook that has a fantastic battery life, good sized screen and looks great.

It appears that Google [GOOG] are working with a company to actually build a Google branded netbook. Reasons for this are more than likely to be that they want to get a Chrome OS netbook running with the exact specifications that they want rather that what the manufacturers want.

As well as creating it’s own branded Chrome OS netbook, Google are also said to be working closely with companies such as Acer, ASUS, HP, Lenovo, Qualcomm, TO and Toshiba to name a few.

From what TechCrunch mention it seems that Google are aiming for next years holiday season to launch the netbook. [Read more…]

ASUS are getting ready to launch a new device they will call the Eee Pad. The ASUS Eee Pad is a tablet based device that will have a screen measuring between 4 and 7 inches that will function as a tablet and MID.

The Eee Pad was inspired by rumours of Apple launching the Apple Tablet from what sources told Digitimes.

ASUS are well known for their Eee range of netbooks and should they add a tablet/MID to that range it will further boost the series of small devices. [Read more…]

Amazon have the ASUS 1201N available now for pre-order with a tentative shipping date of January 15.

Amazon have created a list of the best netbooks costing under $350 that run the new Windows 7 OS. A number of them have received a discount to bring them under the $350 bracket which means you are getting a higher priced netbook for a better price.

ASUS are launching a number of 1201 range netbooks with the next being the ASUS Eee 1201T. The ASUS 1201T differs from the 1201N (ION) and 1201HA (GMA) powered netbooks by offering an AMD Congo MV40 processor inside.

The 1201T netbook is described as having good multimedia performance that can handle video in 1080p full HD format. This is mainly thanks to the ATI Radeon HD3200 chipset found inside.

Battery life on the netbook with the 6 cell battery gives around 4 hours of life. [Read more…]

Orange have announced that it will be shipping the ASUS Eee 1005HGO netbook along with an embedded SIM card for on the move broadband access. The netbook will come with the Windows 7 operating system installed.

The ASUS EEE 1005HGO weighs 1.27KG, has a 10.1 inch screen and will run the Windows 7 Starter operating system.

The netbook is available on both 18 and 24 month contracts with prices ranging from £29.36 (1GB plan) through £40 / month. Data included with the price plans varies from 1GB to 3GB and up to 5GB. We have mentioned the ASUS Eee 1201N a couple of times in the last few months. We now see that it is ready for pre-order.

The Eee 1201N has a 12.1 inch screen running with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. It has an Intel Atom 330 dual core processor along with NVIDIA ION graphics. Priced at just under $500 it comes at a fairly decent price. The netbook is also ASUS’s first ION netbook to be released.

The ASUS 1201N is part of the Seashell line of laptops and looks similar in some ways to various other models from that range such as the best selling Eee 1005HA. [Read more…]

Just yesterday ASUS launched the T91MT over in the US making it available to buy from Amazon.com. If you have your eye on the new Tablet netbook and are not sure how the multi-touch interface works then check out the video below.

The T91MT runs the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system that allows a number of multi-touch functions to work on the device. A look at the video shows that it runs quite smoothly although I’d prefer to see it actually running live than seeing a promotional video. [Read more…]

Amazon in the US have started to ship the ASUS Eee PC T91MT tablet. The T91MT is a newer version of the standard T91 with MT referring to multi-touch. The netbook tablet runs Windows 7 Home Premium and has an acceptable 5 hour battery life.

Spec wise it has a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor along with 1GB of DDR2 RAM (with the ability to take up to 2GB). For storage you get a 32GB solid state drive along with 500GB of free online storage courtesy of ASUS. [Read more…]

It probably won’t be a surprise for you, but Amazon.de have listed a new netbook tablet with a launch date of October 22… ie, Windows 7 launch day. The netbook tablet launching is the Asus Eee T91MT that’s a multi-touch tablet netbook that has an 8.9 inch screen along with a 160GB HDD.

It is similar to the Asus Eee T91 but rather than the solid state drive of the T91, this one opts for a harddrive instead. Inside you’ll also find the same processor on the T91MT as the T91 had.

The netbook tablet is available in either black or white according to the site and will cost the equivalent of $754. [Read more…]
