Apple iPad shot with a Shot Gun – All About Cheaper Tax Preparation

This is a new way to get your message across. A tax preparation company has created an advert of an Apple [AAPL] iPad being shot with a shot gun. The video is filmed at high speed so it can be slowed right down to show the effect of the glass shattering as the bullet flies right through the back of the iPad.

The reason for the advert…

Paying too much for tax preparation is a lot like…throwing money away.

Sony PSP Advert Mocks Apple iPhone

It appears that the latest Sony PSP advert is taking a dig at Apple [AAPL] iPhone users. The advert features a kid who says you can get decent games for the PSP for just $9.99 (older games) that are far better than what’s available on the mobile phones. The ad doesn’t specifically mention Apple although the phone one of the guys holds up clearly looks like an iPhone.

It isn’t clear why Sony are targeting mobile phones for gaming considering that recently it was revealed that Sony Ericsson could be making a PSP Go Android smartphone specifically aimed at gamers. Perhaps those rumours wont happen though. [Read more…]

Apple Liquid Metal Already in Use

Over the last week or so there has been some news about Apple [AAPL] buying a company out that makes Liquid metal. The metal has some unique characteristics that make it more bouncy than other metals. Rumours started going around about how a new iPhone or iPad could be made with this metal to toughen them up a little, thanks to the ability of the metal to morph a little.

We expected that in the next couple of years that this metal could be introduced somewhere in to phones although it appears that we might have already all used Liquidmetal with our iPhones and iPads and just not realised it.

The part we are talking about here is pictured above. The iPhone 3GS SIM pin is apparently made from Liquidmetal alloy. The reason this part is made of liquid metal is that it’s part of the iPhone, but not an essential part. The liquidmetal used makes the part extremely hard but at the same time very light weight. Apple iPad Causes ASUS to Lower 3Q10 Netbook Shipments

The iPad has been very successful for Apple [AAPL] with 3,000,000 selling in the first 80 days of launch. This high number of sales has effected netbook sales.

Thanks to Apple, ASUS is having to lower it’s 3rd quarter 2010 shipments to 1.4 from 1.5 million the previous quarter. The 2nd quarter was also down from the 1st quarter which was 1.6 million. Normally, shipments would be starting to rise in time for Christmas, so it will be interesting to see what happens there. [Read more…]

7 Inch Apple iPad Could Arrive by Christmas

Rumours about Apple [AAPL] releasing a smaller iPad have been around before. Today they have resurfaced with details indicating that a 7 inch iPad could land around Christmas time this year.

Although this is a new iPad (if it arrives), we wouldn’t label it an iPad 2 in a way that our understanding of it shows that it’s just a smaller version of the current iPad that is available right now.

The information comes from Digitimes who is correct in some cases but also not correct in other cases. However, they are reporting that a 7 inch iPad from Apple is almost ready to be assembled over in Taiwan. [Read more…]

Apple Event Coming Mid September

Apple [AAPL] will be holding an annual event mid-September according to AllThingsD.

This particular event has been held every year since 2005 and is expected to run next month. Items expected to be announced are the new iPod touch 4 with the Retina Display and the dual cameras for FaceTime. There is also the possibility that the iPod touch could get the A4 processor like the iPhone 4 currently has. With the higher resolution screen being mentioned, we suspect that the innards will also get spruced up a little. [Read more…]

Apple iPod touch Could get Retina Display and Dual Cameras

The Dell Streak pricing was revealed yesterday on the AT&T network. You might be wondering what this has to do with the next gen iPod touch 4… well, in a post written over at Daring Fireball, John Gruber also mentioned the Dell Streak pricing, but also dropped a couple of details about the next gen iPod touch in that it will have a Retina display as found in the iPhone 4 along with dual cameras like the iPhone 4. The comparison was made because the Dell Streak looks a little overpriced in comparison when compared to the iPad or iPod touch pricing.

With the information coming from John Gruber, we are inclined to believe it. This is for a couple of reasons… first is that he is often spot on with the details he reports on in regards to Apple, and it just seems like the next logical step for the iPod touch to follow the iPhone in terms of technology used. Apple iPod nano First Gen Replacements Hitting Japan

Apple [AAPL] has agreed to replace iPod nano’s sold in Japan that have a problem with overheating. The decision comes after a couple of years of debating with the Japanese government.

Prior to this agreement, Apple had a battery replacement program in effect and this was available to any 1st gen iPod nano owner who complained. This new move now goes above that decision and will replace any iPod nano 1st gen on request.

The problem nano players were all built over a 15 or so month period between September 2005 and December 2006. Since then 27 overheating incidents have been reported with 6 of those going up in flames causing minor burns for users. [Read more…]
