Apple iPad 2 Rumors Indicate Two Cameras

Although we are still several months away from Apple [AAPL] releasing the iPad 2, we continue to hear rumours about what will and will not be included. The latest rumour indicates that the second gen tablet will have a couple of cameras with one being 5 megapixels and the other being VGA, presumably for the front for FaceTime calls.

Although we could easily guess that the iPad 2 will have two cameras due to FaceTime and the call for it, there is a little bit of evidence to back this rumour up. The information comes from an investment firm that claims OmniVision will be supplying the CMOS image sensors. [Read more…]

New Apple SIM Card Could Make One SIM for All Carriers

Apple [AAPL] is rumoured to be creating a new SIM card with the SIM card manufacturer, Gemalto.

Not much information is available about this SIM card other than its essentially a blank, meaning carrier free, SIM card that can be programmed in the phone to connect to a specific network and have a number assigned to it. [Read more…]

Apple MacBook Air Rumored Details

With the Apple [AAPL] Back to the Mac event just an hour away, we thought we’d quickly post some rumored specs that have been suggested for the new MacBook Air that is expected to be announced.

The picture above shows what it believed to be a new 11.6 inch version to be announced later today. Rumored specs show that it will (or might) have an 11.6 inch display, 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with an optional 2.33GHz option. It will have 2GB of memory in the basic config. No optical drive will be included. It will have a trackpad that matches that of the MacBook Pro. It will be about the same thickness as the current MacBook Air. Apple Event Live Stream Announced

Apple [AAPL] will be holding the Back to the Mac event in a couple of hours time. They have now announced that the event will be live streamed. THe stream will be available on the Apple website.

The stream, as it has done the past few times, will go live a few moments before the event starts. Also, as usual, the Apple Live Stream will require that you have an Apple device to play it back such as a Max OS X computer or an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Apple Back to the Mac Event Could Reveal new MacBook Air

Apple [AAPL] is holding an event today called Back to the Mac. Rumors about a new OS X version have been passing around due to the logo used on the image above. Perhaps OS X 10.7 will be launched.

Apple TV Jailbreak Possible with GreenPois0n

When the GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 jailbreak was getting ready to originally launch a couple of weeks back, it was due to use the SHAtter exploit. With Geohot quickly jumping in with Limera1n it caused GreenPois0n to change from SHAtter to using the same exploit Limera1n did.

We now see a picture of an Apple TV jailbreak running that shows GreenPois0n running. It is believed that it isn’t ready for a 1-click install just yet, but shows that its possible. [Read more…]

Apple TV Sales Figures Show 250K Sold

Yesterday, Apple [AAPL] held a fiscal earnings call with a Q&A. In the Q&A part, Steve Jobs revealed that the Apple TV was doing well and that the company had sold over quarter of a million units since the launch last week.

These numbers of course are no match for the iPad which sold 300,000 on day one, although for a newly relaunched device thats just 18 days old (at the time of the call), its still impressive for the company who said it was more of a hobby. [Read more…]

Apple iPad 2 Patent Points to Landscape Dock Connector

Some documents have been submitted to the European Trademarks and Designs Registration Office by Apple [AAPL] which reveal an iPad style device with two dock connectors. One is on the landscape side and the other in the usual portrait side. This isn’t the first time we have heard of an iPad with two dock connectors.

In a post a few weeks back, websites mentioned that the second landscape dock was actually part of the original plans and that Apple decided to not use it at the last minute and got rid of it. New Apple MobileMe Released

Apple [AAPL] has updated the MobileMe Calendar for Mac and with the update, has introduced a bunch of new features to the software. The new features have been designed to make it easier to use as well as giving users more power.

The new MobileMe Calendar update brings the ability to share calendars. When sharing a calendar with other users, you get the ability to specify rights of those accessing the calendar. The rights are simple in that you can choose to give no access, read access or read/write access. [Read more…]

Apple [AAPL] has posted details of an event it is holding on October 20. The event is called ‘Back to the Mac’. The image provided with the invite shows a Lion in the background of the Apple logo.

Limera1n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Works on Apple TV

The Limera1n iOS 4.1 jailbreak was released over the weekend by Geohot. Geohot mentions on the website that Apple TV should be technically supported.

Redmond Pie have now confirmed that the Apple TV can be jailbroke with the Limera1n tool.

The confirmation of this actually came originally from TUAW where Erica Sadun managed to get the Apple TV in to DFU mode and successfully jailbroke it. [Read more…]

Apple Paid $1.7M For 1 Acre of Land

Apple [AAPL] is reported to have paid 1.7 million USD for 1 acre of land adjacent to its datacentre. The land was purchased from the Fulbright family who seem to essentially have got a blank cheque to write…

“They told us to put a price on it and we did,” Kathy Fulbright said. The Fulbrights initially paid just $6,000 for the land over 34 years ago. Now they live in a 49-acre property with a 4,200-squre foot house and a jacuzzi in the master bathroom.
