Buffalo USB 3.0 ExpressCard

Buffalo-USB-3-0-Express-CardBuffalo have created a USB 3.0 ExpressCard that in theory should be capable of transferring data at up to 5GBps depending on what sort of ExpressCard it is (ie, 1.0 or 2.0). If the former older version then speed of data transfer will be restricted to 2.5GBps.

As USB 3.0 is still in it’s very early stages I’d suggest waiting for reviews of the USB 3.0 ExpressCard to be completed before jumping in and buying one. [Read more…]

Buffalo Announce a USB 3.0 12X Blu-Ray Burner

Buffalo have just announced that they are launching a 12x Blu-Ray burner that also has USB 3.0 connectivity. The burner is called the BR-X1216U3 and does support USB 2.0 for those who haven’t upgraded their motherboards or controllers to support USB 3.0. However, when using the slower 2.0 transfer speeds you are restricted to a 7x burn for Blu-Ray discs.

Currently the Buffalo 12x burner is only compatible with Windows based machines (XP/Vista or 7). [Read more…]

Active Media Wink 16GB USB Flash Drive

The USB Wink Drive measures just 0.1 inches in thickness and measures over an inch long. Several capacities are available other than the large 16GB model which includes 2GB, 4GB, 8GB as well as the already mentioned 16GB model.

AT&T USBConnect Lightning connects at 7.2 Mbps Announced

att-usb-lightningAT&T [T] have announced a new USB model that allows mobile broadband at speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. The timing of the announcement comes as they are rolling out the new 7.2Mbps service in various locations.

The USB Modem it’s self is just as interesting as any other USB modem although I guess if we were to pass comment on it we’d mention it looks like it has some sort of fancy swivelling USB connector to allow it easier access to awkward ports on a laptop. [Read more…]

USB 3.0 WebCam with 1080p60 Streaming Revealed

USB-3-0-1080p-WebCamUSB 3.0 was announced a while back and what we have here is a new webcam designed to be USB 3.0 compliant. It is built by Point Grey and the specs are quite impressive as it can actually capture full HD at 1080p at an impressive 60 frames per second.

Due to the wider bandwidth available on USB 3.0, it allows raw data to be pushed through allowing it to function at the higher resolution and frame rate.

Inside the camera there is a 3 megapixel Sony CMOS sensor that is capable of capturing the 1920×1080 pixels needed to make up the resolution. [Read more…]

Varta Digital USB Battery Charger
