Kindle and iPad Screens Compared Under Microscope

Keith over at Bit101 got his hands on a USB microscope. After realising that holding it to a Nexus One, he could see the individual pixels, he decided to test what the Amazon Kindle screen looks like compared to the iPad screen.

Battery Boost Charger from Sprint

This gadget is called the Battery Boost. It comes from Sprint and is designed to recharge gadgets such as cell phones, Bluetooth headsets, MiFi devices or MP3 players as well as other small gadgets.

The device is quite small in capacity and appears to have been designed for emergency use as it provides about an hours worth of extra juice to make calls on a smartphone.

The Battery Boost is also a micro SD card reader and can be plugged in to a laptop or USB port to both read the microSD card installed, and charge up the internal battery. [Read more…]

EFO iPazzPort Mini Keyboard Unveiled (3rd Gen)

EFO has launched the 3rd gen iPazzport keyboard. The small device has a BlackBerry look and houses a small QWERTY keyboard along with a touchpad above that.

The keyboard is wireless and comes supplied with a wireless USB dongle and allows you to use it with HTPC, IPTV or CARPC devices as well as games consoles such as the Xbox 360, PS3 and any other device that can receive text input from an external keyboard.

Portable Scanner – CopyCat Launches

The CopyCat is a portable scanner that allows you to easily capture documents whilst on the move. The device costs £79.99 over at Firebox and is capable of scanner in colour.

The device has an SD card slot built in that allows 2GB of images to be stored although the memory card isn’t provided with the portable scanner. A 2GB SD card costs around £7.99 although many homes have spare SD cards available in older cameras that could be used. [Read more…]

3rd Gen iPod touch With Camera Spotted on eBay

There’s around 1 day and 13 hours left for you to get your hands on a 3rd gen iPod touch with a built in camera on the back.

It is believed that the actual product is real, in that Apple [AAPL] created it. However, the specific model with a camera was never launched last year. Rumours about the lack of camera on the 3rd gen model include the blame on a shortage of cameras which meant it had to hit the shelves camera-less.

The details in the auction, found here, indicate that the camera doesn’t actually work due to a lack of software although the seller does say that when the next gen iPod touch 4 is launched in a few weeks time, the software should allow this camera to start working. [Read more…]

Clear iSpot 4G Hotspot for iPad and iPhone

The Clear iSpot is a mobile 4G hotspot designed to allow smartphones and tablets to connect to the internet at 4G speeds.

The device is designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and when those devices connect over a WiFi connection, they are then capable of accessing the internet at 4G speeds rather than the 3G speeds that currently can restrict them.

The iSpot is capable of allowing up to eight wireless devices to connect up to it and has been optimised for Apple [AAPL] products. We are not sure what that exactly means, but we assume any WiFi device with a fast enough connection will be able to get the same benefits from it. [Read more…]

ASUS Eee PC 1016P Appears on ASUS Site

ASUS is launching the ASUS Eee PC 1016p netbook soon. The new netbook falls in to the 1000 range of netbooks and therefore has a 10 inch screen.

Other features include an Intel Atom N455 CPU running the device along with Bluetooth 3.0 for connectivity along with Wireless 802.11b/g/n for connectivity.

Storage wise it comes with a 320GB hard drive and has 2GB of RAM. Battery life is impressive and rated at 13 hours between charges which is more than enough for a business days usage. [Read more…]

Huawei E583C Mobile WiFi Hotspot Unveiled

Huawei is launching a new MiFi device that can connect up to HSPA 3.5G networks.

The new WiFi hotspot allows up to five wireless devices to connect up at the same time to share the 3.5G connection. If using the USB port on the device to tether it to a laptop, this allows up to six devices to share the connection. [Read more…]

MiniPAK Fuel Cell Charger – Pre-Orders Now Available

The MiniPAK is a gadget that charges your mobile phone and other portable electronic devices. It uses Hydrogen to power gadgets and is capable of powering devices that require up to 2W of power.

The Hydrogen comes from what the company calls HydroSTIK’s that provide the 2W of power at 5V and 400mA. Power is delivered through a micro USB port that you can connect a multi-choice cable to.

We first wrote about the new charging gadget last month and actually first saw some details of it at CES earlier this year. The good news here is that the company behind it are starting to accept pre-orders. [Read more…]

Panasonic 3D Camcorder – HDC-SDT750 Now Official

Yesterday we found some leaked pictures of a new Panasonic 3D camcorder named the HDC-SDT750. Panasonic has now officially released the details of the 3D camcorder.

Panasonic has announced the HDC-SDT750 as the worlds first consumer 3D camcorder. it comes with a 3D conversion lens that lets users capture video in 3D for playback on a 3D TV.

The 3D camcorder can capture video in full 1080p HD video in the AVCHD format when capturing in 2D with a standard lens.

“As a result of research conducted through Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory, Panasonic developed a professional 3D system camera and successfully brought high-quality Full HD 3D images to the home for viewing on Panasonic VIERA Full HD 3D televisions. But now, Panasonic has taken it one step further and developed the world’s first consumer 3D camcorder, the HDC-SDT750 creating a 3D ecosystem available for consumers in the home,” said Chris Rice, Senior Product Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “Incorporating Panasonic’s professional broadcast technology and bringing it to an easy-to-use consumer model, the SDT750 makes high-quality 3D video content a reality in the home.”

Apple 27 Inch LED Cinema Display Announced

Apple [AAPL] has announced a new 27 inch Cinema Display today. The new display is LED based, measures 27 inches and has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

The new screen size makes it 60 percent larger than the 24 inch model. Features built in include an iSight video camera, a microphone, speakers and a USB 2.0 hub that is powered.

The screen uses a universal MagSafe connector. The large screen has been designed as a companion to MacBook family or Mac Desktops to be used as a primary or secondary screen. Price wise, it costs $999. [Read more…]
