Amazing Weave Mirror

The weave mirror is probably something that you have not seen before. It has 768 motors in it which attach to laminated prints which are put together make a large surface. It acts as a mirror by turning each C-shaped laminate piece when it can see you. It works almost instantly with only a slight delay on your so called reflection. Around the back you can see all the gears working as it shifts around all the laminate C-rings.

Optimus Keyboard – Real – Maybe

Optimax-Live
The Optimus keyboard which has been promised for maybe over a year has possibly been spotted. Apparently this one pictured above was taken in Moscow and probably cost a bomb. There is no other evidence of this keyboard being real yet. Maybe one day the cool OLED key keyboard might make a real appearance.

Motorola ROKR U9

Motorola_ROKR_u9_rokr
Motorola are releasing a new clamshell phone named the Rokr U9. It looks ok, although I am not a huge fan of clamshell phones. The screen is a 1.4 inch 128 x 160 pixel OLED which seems quite cool. It is a quad band phone with GPRS and EDGE. The camera is lacking at 2 mega pixels with no auto focus or flash. Inside is a 1.8 inch QVGA screen which has more colours then the outside one and is slightly larger in resolution at 240 x 320 pixels. Other features such as MP3 playback, memory card slots and Bluetooth connectivity can be found. Its not a bad phone, but nothing too exciting to be honest.

Cool Lamp

troja_arc_lamp
This lamp looks very cool. Its built with LEDs (hundreds of them) encased in a sweeping arc. This creates a nice warm halo of light around the person sat under it. I just wish I had the room to go with it as it wont sit well in a small living space. Still cool though, but unfortunately it wont be put in production as far as I can see with it being a one off piece.

The latest range of Exilim cameras will feature a YouTube capture mode which will record videos in the best quality and size for YouTube up loaders. The Exilim Series Z8 will also use H.246 compressions technologies. The Z8s have an 8 mega pixel sensor and also use Casios Exilim engine 2.0 for image processing.

On the YouTube side of things the camera comes bundled with software which can interface with YouTube and make uploading your videos easier. Another cool feature is face detection technology which is not new, but still cool to have.

HTC TyTN II

HTC TyTN II
The TyTN II from HTC was released recently. Dave over at MobilityToday managed to get hold of one for review and first impressions are quite good. Some bad things noted are the battery being too low capacity even though GPS, 802.11, HSDPA can be found which means less time using the device. GPS is not configurable, although it does just work with out problems. On the good side there is a great screen which can tilt allowing for better viewing. There is a lot of ram packed in there. The camera is 3 megapixel. TomTom is installed and it has USB charging which is great news.

Dave has more details over on his site as well as a full review to be expected soon.

Mitsubishi i MIEV Sport – Concept

Mitsubishi-i-MIEV-Sport
The iMIEV sport is a concept car from Mitsubishi. The car has a couple of interesting features such as a solar roof and two compact wind turbines in the front grill. These two features help increase the range of the car slightly by keeping the batteries more charged. Another feature to assist charging the batteries is a regenerative braking system which pushes charge back in to the batteries. The lithium-ion batteries are stored underneath the floor where the passengers sit.

The lighting on the car LED which allows for more energy to be conserved. To allow the car to run cooler inside the windows are heat absorbing so that less heat travels in to where the passengers sit.

Seems like a cool idea although I cannot say I like the look of it too much. If it can give the electrics that extra boost then all must be good.

F80 from Meridian

F80 from Meridian
The F80 is a portable entertainment system which is capable of radio, CD, DVD audio and video. It looks like just a regular radio, but as mentioned, it has a ton of features packed in to it. It was jointly designed by Meridian and Ferrari which is not a combination I would have expected to be honest. Inside there are 3 power amps capable of delivering more then 80 watts of sound to the front two speakers and read sub woofer. The F80 is not your average entertainment system, but although it does look a tad different I actually think it sounds quite cool especially after hearing it has over 80 watts of power that it can kick out. The front of the device also sports a nice organic LED display. The recommended retail price of the F80 is $3000.

Zune Phone maybe Coming

the zune phone
The Apple iPhone has been very successful which has led Microsoft to rethink their stance on the possibility of a Zune phone. Recently they stated that it is not unreasonable for them to create a phone based on the Zune music platform. Sounds good to me although if Steve Ballmer has input it must have a keyboard. This along with the Google Phone could lead to some nice competition over the years to come.

Lego Salt and Pepper Shakers

Lego Salt and Pepper Shakers
These salt and pepper shakers are quite cool because they are Lego. They can be detached from each other and the white can be filled with salt and the black filled with pepper (or the other way around if you so wish). They measure 45mm x 25mm and cost just $9. Of course it is made out of plastic too. I think I need to get a couple of these to give away as prizes 🙂
