O2 iPhone 4 UK Prices Revealed

O2 has announced the iPhone 4 UK price for it’s network. We already knew the tariffs as they were announced last week. Now we know handset prices although O2 has mixed the 24 and 18 month plans together making it a little confusing.

If you want an 18 month contract on the cheapest plan, you will pay £30/month for just 100 minutes, unlimited text messages and 500MB of data. For the 16GB iPhone 4, O2 has the 18 month price listed as £209. The same iPhone 4 on the 24 month plan is £5 cheaper per month at £25/month, but the handset price actually goes up to £279.

If you want to get an iPhone 4 for free only the 24 month £60/month plan is available which probably wont save you any money unless you intend to make a lot of calls. We think you are best sticking to the mid-range £35/month on an 18 month contract which sees you get the 16GB iPhone 4 for £179. [Read more…]

iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Cancelled by AT&T in Some Cases

We heard reports last night that AT&T [T] had cancelled a few orders. There was nothing we could find at that time to show what had happened. This morning we came across this information on ModMyi where a user has put the text of a cancellation of a users iPhone 4 pre-order.

IBM Seer Augmented Reality Wimbledon Tennis App

IBM has created a new app for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and Android smartphones that brings augmented reality to the Wimbledon Tennis tournament.

The application is designed to let you navigate around the grounds and more easily find games you want to watch. By pointing the smartphone in the direction of a game you can pick up scores and details of the match and if cameras are available, you can even watch the match on the screen of your smartphone.

The app is called IBM Seer. It also shows other useful information such as where to get food, where toilets are and other general information that you might need throughout your stay. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Tab Now Called Galaxy Tape – Runs Android 2.2

More details of the Samsung Galaxy Tape have been revealed. The Galaxy Tape was formally called the Galaxy Tab and has a 7 inch screen. We now hear that the Galaxy Tape will run Google Android 2.2 and have an A8 processor that runs at 1.2GHz which should make the device rather snappy.

The battery in the Galaxy Tape has a 4000mAH capacity although run times have not been provided just yet. We think the 10 hour bar should be reached and made a standard by any tablet though.

The Samsung Galaxy Tape weighs 370 grams. Technical specs show that the Tape has 16GB of on board storage that can be increased by a further 32GB by using the microSD slot. [Read more…]

Nokia X5 Unveiled

Nokia [NOK] has announced the Nokia X5-01 over at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore. The new device from the X-Series range of phones is designed for those who enjoy music and movies on the go.

Design wise, the Nokia X5 looks like it’s almost a square in shape. It comes in 4 colours which are blue, pink, green and black and leans towards those who want to text, email and use social networks while on the go as well as those who enjoy music.

Just like the Nokia X6, the X5 is supplied with the Comes With Music service (depending on country) and the Surprise Me is basically a random track player that is accessed by spinning your phone. [Read more…]

Microsoft Kinect Revealed – Project Natal Official Name

Microsoft [MSFT] has made the Microsoft Kinect official. Kinect is the new and official name for Project Natal.

The Microsoft Kinect allows you to interact with games as well as make four-way video calls. At the E3 event there were no prices revealed unfortunately and no launch dates either. Some rumours indicate that the Microsoft Kinect could cost as high as $150 when launched though and some are expecting that we might have to wait till late this year to get our hands on the Kinect.

From what Engadget have noted it appears that many games are one person at a time with just a couple of games allowing for two people to play. Games can be played with two players online in some cases though. [Read more…]

Springteq WeGo Heads Up Display Navigation Revealed

Springteq has created a new navigation system called the WeGo HUD Navigator. The device is capable of created a heads up display on the windscreen of a car and provide driving directions to the driver. The HUD readout is presented about 3.3 feet away from the driver.

The advantages of HUDs are obvious. They provide drivers with valuable information without having to take their eyes off the road. The WeGo also allows drivers to operate the device without having to take their hands off the wheel thanks to a RF-based wireless remote control that attaches to the steering wheel.

Motorola DROID Xtreme Shots Revealed

Not much is known yet about the Motorola DROID Xtreme other than a few leaked shots. The latest shots captured show the back of the DROID Xtreme.

On the back an 8 megapixel camera can be found, also HD video is included as seen in very small writing next to the lens and what looks to be a dual-flash.

We hear that it runs the Google [GOOG] OS, Android 2.1 although earlier details did not indicated it was version 2.1. We also see that it has similar styling to the Motorola DROID. [Read more…]

HTC Legend AMOLED Screen Has Problems with Grayscale

Some people have reported problems with their HTC Legend smartphones. The problem appears to be the way it shows grayscale colours in that it cannot show them properly.

The HTC Legend uses an AMOLED display which was criticised for the problems which prompted Tweakers to investigate further.

To do this the website used colour-testing equipment where the could test to see exactly what was happening under a microscope. The screen on the Legend did show problems with pink, grey, brown and green showing up rather than just grayscale (seen in the larger image below). [Read more…]

LG Town GT350 Unveiled

The LG Town GT530 has been designed for those who like to keep in contact either via text messages or via social networks. The device has a slide out QWERTY keyboard and includes social networking services such as Twitter and Facebook to let users easily keep in touch.

The LG Town uses a live social network feed that brings the contents of Facebook and Twitter together in to a single stream that can be easily viewed and interacted with when needed.

NEC 3D Projector Revealed

NEC Display Technologies has announced a new 3D enabled DLP projector. It is called the NP216J-3D and has a resolution of 1024×768 pixels.

Brightness is rated at 2500 lumens and a contrast ratio of 2000:1 is achieved. The 2500 lumens brightness is provided by a 180W lamp. A single mono speaker can also be found inside.

The new 3D projector is due to launch on July 20 over in Japan where it will be sold for $1100 which includes a pair of glasses. [Read more…]

Hitachi 7mm Thick Laptop Hard Drive Unveiled

Hitachi has created a range of new hard drives that measure just 7mm thick. The new super slim drives are 2.5 inches in size.

Two versions have been launched called the TravelStar and the CinemaStar. The two versions are built for different tasks. The TravelStar drives were designed to function in laptops and other portable devices while the CinemaStar drives are optimised for media such as audio and video streaming.

Each model has low power consumption requirements as well as shock resistance, quiet acoustics and of course, they are just 7mm thick making them a good candidate for the new Intel Canoe Lake laptops that could potentially measure just 15mm thick in total. [Read more…]
