Walking Head Robot
July 9, 2008
Perhaps the most weird looking robot I have seen in a long time has just been created. The Walking Head Robot measures 2 meters across, has 6 legs and has an LCD screen on top showing the head of a human like person.
The robot is sensor driven and can detect objects (and human presence) around it. When someone is spotted the robot will perform one of several gyrations to impress the visitor. Kind of crazy, but scary at the same time. The robot is capable of detecting the edge of a drop and can back off easily with out falling down a step. Powered by pneumatics I personally think it looks quite menacing. Lets just wait for MKII which will feature facial expressions and no doubt, will be more automated.
