Vodafone were quick to jump up to another level with their latest USB flash drive modem. This latest offering is capable of transferring data over a HSDPA network at 14.4Mbps. That’s quicker then my home broadband connection.
The USB stick is available in HK. If full speed is not available then it is capable of stepping down to 7.2Mbps, 3.6Mbps or a 1.8Mbps speed which in my eyes, is still fairly quick for mobile data access. Upload speeds stay at 2Mbps at all speed ranges which is common among any broadband connection unless it’s synchronous.
The USB stick comes in a few different contract flavours with the 30 month plan offering the modem for free. If you decide to go for an 18 month contract the unit will cost you $1688 HKD and by it’s self with a Flexi plan the USB stick costs $1888 HKD. Just so you don’t go choke on that $1888 price, it is in HKD which equates to about $242 USD at today’s exchange rate.
