The TomTom car kit for the iPhone 3G S is now available to pre-order from the Apple Store in the UK. It costs £100 but that does does-not include a copy of TomTom navigator for the iPhone which isn’t is quite bad. Shipping will start in 2 or 3 weeks.
The TomTom car kit allows you to secure your iPhone to the dashboard or windscreen of your car. The unit contains it’s own GPS unit that can provide a more reliable signal. Also a built in mic and loadspeaker are also included so you can make hands free calls as well as listen to directions as they are read out.
The TomTom car kit is compatible with both the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3G S and you can cannot pre-order now from the Apple Store as the page is now dead in the UK. Update: Scrap that, it was a mistake on the Apple Store. The £100 does not include the app and is for the dock only. Seems like a rip off to me now

You can stiil pick up a standalone unit for a better price. Half the cost and maybe thay will be onto somthing.
It gets worse Derek. The price was pulled from the Apple site due to an error. It’s actually £100 for the kit without the software. Madness!
So now your looking at £160 all in. ummm is it me or that just laughable?
