tomtom idock TomTom iPhone Dock Houses its own GPS UnitiPhone TomTom is almost here and according to AppleInsider it should be ready in the App store later this summer. Some interesting news which has been revealed is that the iDock will house it’s own GPS device that is apparantly far better then the 3G S GPS unit that’s built in.

Also inside the mount is a dedicated loud speaker which can shout out directions over the noise of the traffic. The loud speaker is also better then the one built in to the iPhone.

As well as having it’s own GPS and loudspeaker, a rumour also suggests that gyroscopes are also included which make it more usable around busy cities or through tunnels where signal might be weak.

Another interesting feature of the dock is that it will also store map data on the dock which allows you to save storage space on the iPhone. However, should you want to use the iPhone as a stand alone GPS device then maps are available to download direct to the iPhone.
