The Lightbulb that Floats
June 11, 2007

This picture of a light bulb is apparently real. It appears to be just floating there right in the middle of those two black blocks. Also, it is supposed to be working by electromagnetic forces which makes it wirelessly powered. It will be demonstrated in Barcelona later this week. Its something I want to see as surely it must be some kind of camera trick.
A similar version was released a couple of years ago and it seems now that the bulb is a lot more efficient. According to Slashgear the two blocks are actually magnets and the bulb has magnets inside which repel against the magnets above and below it causing it to levitate 2.5 inches above the base.
