The startech Infosafe device allows you to use any compatible 2.5" hard drive and carry it around safely. It connects to your PC via USB 2.0. You do not even have to connect it to your PC. You could connect your camera directly to it and download or upload files from your camera or MP3 player type devices. It is hot swappable which means you do not have to switch off to connect or disconnect it. It runs from 4 AA batteries and is very portable.
The device needs to use the FAT 32 file system. The IDE version sells for $62.99 and SATA version at $69.99. Placing a drive in the device is simple also with the use of a pen or screw driver. You just slide out the tray, place the drive in and close it back up.
