Sony Ericsson are releasing a new phone named the C905. One of the C905’s details which caught my attention was that it has a HUGE 8 megapixel digital camera built in. That’s not bad at all for a mobile phone camera. Lets see what else is included in this phone.
The Sony Ericsson C905 has a number of features built in which converge a number of devices all in to one small package.
Sony Ericsson C905 Features
* 8 Megapixel Digital Camera (the C in C905 refers to “Cybershot range” which brings Sony’s advanced camera features to the mobile phone.
* Wi-fi
* Geotagging of photos by utilising the A-GPS function
The camera part of the phone features auto focus, face detection (detecting up to 3 faces on the same picture), image stabilization, 16x digital zoom, flash, focus assist lamp and on the reverse of the phone is a self-portrait mirror. As well as being good at capturing still photos the C905 can capture high quality movies. If you are filming in a darkened area then a secondary flash can brighten up the area allowing you to still capture decent video in unlit areas. The phone has a 2.4 inch screen allowing you to quickly get a preview of the picture or video you have just taken.
The A-GPS allows the phone to be tracked in emergencies and also provides the geotagging functions so that when you take a picture out in Australia then you can tag the exact location (with in a few meters) of where you captured the picture.
The C905 uses Wi-fi for connectivity to the web and features software built in allowing for quick uploads to the internet of the pictures you have just taken. Blog features allow it also to quickly connect so you can send the pictures or video direct to a blog post. Mixing wi-fi with an 8 megapixel camera makes it simple and quick to upload high quality images to the web.
The phone is compatible with Apple’s iSync software allowing you to synchronise it with an iPod device. If your MP3 collection is not large enough then you can switch over to the FM receiver to listen to the local radio stations.
On the memory side of things there is 160MB built in which isn’t a lot but by using a Sony Memory stick micro card you can up it from the 2GB (included) to a maximum of 32GB which is a very nice size for a mobile phone.
The battery on the phone allows it to be in standby for up to 380 hours with a 9 hour talk time. These times are based on a GSM network, so switching it to 3G would drain the battery a little quicker then the 9 hours talk time.
If you are wanting a phone that can take very high quality pics and have good internet connectivity to share those pictures online then this is the phone for you.
