Smart Bolts

by Matthew on December 4, 2008

smart bolts Smart BoltsSmartBolts are regular bolts but with a few modifications that can indicate how tight the bolt is tightened. A graphical representation tells you when you need to keep tightening and when your good to move on to the next bolt.

smart bolts diagram Smart BoltsThe representation is done with the use of a small coloured dot on the end of the bolt. When tightening the dot changes from bright red (meaning undone) and then goes black once the bolt is correctly tightened. It works by utilising a small compartment that is filled with a fluid and squashed with pressure.

These bolts are made in M10 to M32 sizes (if that means anything to you) and are ready to use out of the box.
