SkypePhone to get SkypeOut

SkypePhone to get SkypeOut

skypeout I just read some fantastic news over at 3MobileBuzz about 3's cool SkypePhone. Since the SkypePhone launch last year there has been one slight let down in that it only allowed Skype to Skype calls. Although free skype to skype calls is nothing to complain about some felt that they wanted a little more and make use of SkypeOut. Up until now, this has been a no... but that is about to change.

It has been announced that Three are about to allow SkypeOut calls from any V1 or V2 SkypePhone. This news is quite frankly amazing as you will soon (in a day or so) have the ability to call landlines and mobiles all over the world through Skype. Just imagine a call to the US from a mobile phone costing just 1.Xp rather then 70p like it potentially could depending on your network.

To make use of this offer you will need to sign up to a contract starting at £15/Month which gives you 300 minutes (regular type calls) and 4000 Skype-to-Skype minutes. Calls to landlines I assume get billed to your Skype account as they would if using your PC.

Skype contracts can also be used here. Starting at £2.24 (on top of the monthly fee) you get to call landlines for free in one of the 20 European countries. If you step up to £3.39 you can call all landlines in all 20 European countries. However, these two plans do not allow Skype to mobile calls from what I understand. Finally, if you opt for the £7.99/month plan then you get to call Europe, US, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as the ability to make Skype to Mobile calls.

So a quick breakdown of the minimum costs to get SkypeOut on your SkypePhone is as follows...

Sign up to a contract that costs £15/Month (free phone included from what I understand) and add on an extra £2.24. This will allow SkypeOut calls to one country in Europe.

The bonus of the SkypePhone is that you can use Skype wherever you have a 3G mobile phone signal. It does not need wifi to connect.
