This Lego USB Flash Drive is a one of a kind 4GB flash drive that as the name suggests, is built of Lego. The Lego Flash Drive car measures 3.5″ x 1.5″ and can be taken apart if you want.
The Flash Drive uses a micro flash drive embedded in to the main body of the car with the top section and wheels attaching to the flash drive. As it uses what appears to be regular lego, there is also room to further customise the drive if needed. [click to continue…]

The Simulator company Cruden has built an F1 simulator that costs a hefty £120,000. The simulator is called the Hexatech and is capable of providing what Cruden call 6DOF (six degrees of freedom).
The simulator is said to provide g-Force simulation of multiple G’s as well as realistic steering that is 100% accurate.
“Let’s be clear: this is not a video game linked up to a steering wheel, race seat and pedals. Although easy to operate, this is the exact same equipment used by the top racing drivers and engineers to improve their race craft and evaluate new tracks and car settings. Our simulator and the software it uses cannot be bought in a store.”

If you are the forgetful type of person who can never remember where you parked your car then check out this Augmented Reality Car Finder iPhone app that allows you to track exactly where your car is and how far it is to your car.
With the car finder app using augmented reality it makes use of your iPhone’s camera and overlays data of where your car is on to the stream of video displayed on the screen. The GPS part of the phone tracks where you are and figures out where your car is while the digital compass on the iPhone can help you figure out which direction your car is by detecting which direction the camera is facing. Waking up in the morning is perhaps one of the most annoying parts of the day. Nobody likes to wake up at the wrong time feeling like they just need that few minutes extra sleep. The aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm clock was designed to tackle that problem by analysing your sleep patterns through the night and waking you up at a time where you are not in the middle of a deep sleep. By waking up at the right time it prevents the groggy feeling you get sometimes in the morning.
We were given an aXbo alarm clock to test for a couple of weeks to see how it performs and if it works as well as it claims it does. In short, it seems to do what it says on the box in that each morning I woke up I never seemed to wake up in the middle of a deep sleep. Lets take a closer look though to see how it actually works and what it actually does to prevent the groggy mornings. [click to continue…]

This remote controlled car is capable of transforming in to a robot. By hitting a button on the remote control the hood and front wheels elevate about 10″ in the air and expose a canon that fires suction cup darts.
Five darts can be stored inside and they can be fired in rapid succession. When you have finished causing destruction you then hit another button and the robot colapses back in to a car that you can drive around like a normal RC car. [click to continue…]

A great application for Android based phones has been created. It is called Nebudroid and it turns your Android phone in to an NES controller that works with NES emulators and also racing games on the PC.
As well as having the standard D pad and a couple of buttons it also makes use of the accelerometers built in to the phone and can then be used as a steering wheel allowing you to more realistically drive around a track in a game. [click to continue…]

The Nintendo Wii has a number of bizarre wiimote attachments to make it in to the likes of some maracas, a golf club, tennis racket, steering wheel etc… The latest is an actual controller unit shaped like an American football.
The patent shows a football controller that is designed to assist in a “real-world” football experience. The problem with it is that to get the real-world experience you need to throw it, run in to things and generally have a rough time with the ball… somehow I can’t see this happening in a living room where a nice 42″ plasma screen sits. The Flyro Gyro is a toy which can be thrown about 100 feet. Thanks to a gyroscopic stabilizer built on the front the flyro gyro flys very well when you chuck it across a field.
When throwing the flyro you need to flick the wheel. The faster you spin the gyro the further the flyro will fly.
With its gyroscopic stabilizer wheel and unique shape, this wacky triumph of aeronautical design will make your old Frisbee seem about as entertaining as a ball of scrunched up toilet paper.

InventorSpot have an interesting article up today that mentions a new camless engine that could potentially run with more power, but use less fuel. The normal internal combustion engine runs at about 25%-30% in efficiency at the flywheel. Once that power reaches the wheels an estimated 10% more is lost too.
A company in Sweden believe that by removing the camshaft the engine will free up some wasted energy making it more efficient and more powerful. [click to continue…]

The Car Performance Analyst is a small device about the size of a Sat Nav that allows you to monitor your cars acceleration, horsepower, torque to name a few. It comes with a 4.3 inch color touchscreen that allows you to view exactly what’s happening in your car.
The gauges on screen allow you to customise them so that you can measure and report back on your 1/4 mile run or your 0 – 60 time. All data can optionally be stored on an SD card so you can run tests at various times of the day. [click to continue…]
