Sony have launched two more notebooks called the VAIO F and VAIO Z series. This comes alongside the announcement of the VAIO Y series we just wrote about. The VAIO Z Series is described as being ultra-portable while the VAIO F Series is described as being a multi-media notebook.

The Z Series weighs just over three pounds and is housed in carbon-fibre and aluminium making it very durable. The screen on this notebook measures 13.1 inches and is backlit by LED. Sony have introduced a new notebook called the Sony VAIO Y Series. The Y Series VAIO features an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor running at 1.3GHz. It runs the Windows 7 Home Professional 64-bit operating system. The screen measures 13.3 inches and is backlit by LED. The LED screen is capable of showing a 1366 x 768 pixel image. For memory it has 4GB of RAM and for storage a 500GB hard drive.

On the sides of the device is a HDMI output, VGA, USB port and headphone jacks. The Y Series notebook also has Bluetooth for connectivity as well as Wireless 802.11n. [click to continue…]

Windows-7-NetbooksWith the launch of Windows 7 being right around the corner, ie, this Thursday, Amazon is quickly building up a list of netbooks that will run the new operating system when launched. Each of the 28 (28 are featured, but there are more listed on the site) netbooks can be pre-ordered now. Included in the list are some of the best netbooks that are currently selling with Windows XP including the Asus Eee 1005HA that we reviewed a few weeks ago. That particular Eee PC is to be made available this Thursday costing $399 and will run Windows 7 Starter.

Other netbooks included in the list are the Acer Aspire One, Sony Vaio, HP Mini and Toshiba models to name a few. Prices range from $299 for the cheapest (the Gateway 10.1" netbook) up to $499 for the most expensive. [click to continue…]

vaio-x-jpSony in Japan are getting ready to launch the Sony Vaio X series ultraportable. To prepare for the launch, Sony have launched a pre-registration site that allows you to register your interest on what looks to be a subscribe by email system according to the google translation.

Sony have confirmed in the past that the ultraportable will cost no more than $2,000 but the official price is still unknown.

At the moment the Vaio X series has an Intel Atom Processor with an 11.1 inch display. Sony also claim that the battery is good for a full days usage which would probably mean a working day of about 8 hours. [click to continue…]

Sony-Blu-RaySony have announced two new blu-ray players named the BDP-S560 and the BDP-S760. Both players are designed to give high quality 1080p picture quality along with 7.1 surround sound.

Both of the Blu-ray players are wireless at 802.11n speeds allowing you to not only grab the latest firmware updates over your network, but also connect to the web so you can utilise the BD-Live service. Also both players can receive JPG files from other DLNA devices such as Vaio laptops and PC's even if they are not in the same room. [click to continue…]

sony-vaio-x-seriesOver at IFA in Berlin, Sony have announced the new VAIO X series netbook. The Sony Vaio X has an 11 inch screen and is very thin. The casing is made from carbon fibre that houses an aluminium keyboard. As the Vaio X uses lightweight materials it also is very light at just 700 grams.

Right now the display model uses an Intel Atom processor and the machine runs Windows 7 with 2GB of ram and a 31Wh battery. However, Sony have also said that the Atom processor is just one of the options and could be changed in the near future when production models are made (or when more options are made available). The details are being kept very secret at the moment. Interestingly enough, the netbook should launch at the end of the month and cost a usual Sony premium price tag of $2000. [click to continue…]

android_midA mystery Android MID was spotted last week. The creators of this MID are unknown but yet, there are more photos to see of this nice looking android based device.

The design looks similar to that of an Apple product in that it has a smooth front face with a screen quite close to the edges giving a very thin bezel around the edge. A chrome edging can also be seen around the edges on to the back cover. [click to continue…]

sony-vaio-wA new touchscreen notebook has been announced by Sony. The new VAIO W will be released this fall and will support Windows 7. By using a touchscreen the new VAIO will be able to use the touch features that are built in to Windows 7.
