Sony PSP 3D Not Currently being Worked On

With the announcement of the Nintendo 3DS device (a 3D handheld gaming device), the question has been asked about a Sony PSP 3D handheld device and if that was a possibility, or being worked on. In short the answer is no, it is not being worked on right now.

‘Our focus on 3D right now is on the console. There’s a tremendous amount of opportunity on PlayStation 3 with 3D. The amount of interest in 3D from the retail side and game publishers is off the charts. We know we have a hit with 3D on PS3 and we’re going to concentrate our efforts there.

Tilt FX brings Motion Control to the Sony PSP

Tilt FX is a device that attaches to the bottom of your Sony PSP and adds motion control to games on the device. The small Tilt FX device is programmed to replace the normal direction pad controls essentially taking over the directions when you tilt the device.

The Tilt FX uses 3D movements allowing you to easily play driving games, action games as well as many other games in a similar way you would on an Apple iPhone or other handheld device that uses motion to function. [Read more…]

Sony PSP Phone Rumored Again

Wall Street Journal today reported that Sony are planning to take on Apple [AAPL] this year by releasing a much rumoured Sony PSP smartphone.

As well as launching a Sony PSP Phone, rumours about a netbook/eBook type reader/PSP combo were also mentioned that would be aimed at competing with the Apple iPad along with an on-line service to download media such as music, video and games from an online store. [Read more…]

PSP Go Disassembled and Reassembled in Stop Motion

The PSP Go has been taken apart before a few times, but this time the whole process was captured in stop motion animation showing each screw and cable being unfastened until every piece of the GO is separated.

PSP 6.00 Firmware Goes Live

psp-network-updateSony have released the PSP 6.00 firmware update and it is available now for download. The new firmware 6.00 can be downloaded the usual way by accessing the Network Update icon on the XMB.

Gran Turismo PSP Limted Edition Pack

Gran-Turismo-PSPSony have announced that the PSP-3000 system will be made available in a special Gran Turismo pack. Gran Turismo PSP is launching on October 1st after what seems like a several year delay. It’s actually great to see it being released. The special pack will be launched on the 20th October and will include the game on UMD as well as a silver PSP-3000, a downloadable voucher so you can get a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (for the game that is), 2GB memory Stick DUO and a movie/music pass allowing you to download 10 songs from the PlayStation network store.

Sony PSP Go Downloads to start at €1

sony_psp_go_download_gamesThe Sony PSP Go is Sony’s latest handheld to the market. It’s basically a new PSP but for some reason, seems to lack the hardware to make you go wow. Anyway, to cheer things up a little it appears that Sony will be pricing games on the PSN (PlayStation Network) starting at just ‚¬1 with a jump to ‚¬2 and finally ‚¬5 each.

This move brings the pricing in to the Apple App store price range and interestingly enough, Sony have been actively trying to get iPhone developers moving their games over to the PSP Go platform. [Read more…]

Sony’s PSP Go Made Official – October 1st

The PSP Go has been made official and has received a price of $249 with a release date of October 1. The PSP Go is smaller then the original PSP and also has a smaller screen measuring 3.8″ (compared to 4.3″ screen of the older version). The PSP Go is aimed at those who lead a digital lifestyle.

Inside you will find 16GB of flash based storage that allows you to store games, music and downloaded TV programs that you get via Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is built in and the noticeable difference is the slide up screen which reveals the control pad underneath. [Read more…]

PSP used as Status Display for PC

psp-status-monitorIf you have a spare Sony PSP kicking around your house and lack the funds to buy a second monitor for your PC then you can now use your PSP to display the status of your PC.

A hacker named AVI has created a script which you can run on your PC which sends data to the PSP screen. Information displayed on the PSP screen is CPU Usage, memory allocation and system temperature levels. To get the script working you need to edit a bit of script and have Lua for the PSP.
