The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the latest officially backed ‘Google’ Phone, following in the footsteps of the G1 and the Nexus phones. It comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS); the Android OS that is supposed to bring together fragmentation that Android has suffered between tablets and phones.

If you are running a version of iOS from a couple of years back, ie: version 3.1.3 then this could be of interest to you. This is particular interesting for those stuck on iOS 3.1.3 due to owning older iPhone hardware. What we are talking about is a custom firmware for the older iPhone and iPod touch devices that cannot be upgraded. What it does is brings some iOS 5 features to the older operating system in a firmware that contains a jailbreak, unlock and apps such as Cydia.
Vizio has confirmed rumours by announcing that it is launching five new PCs. The launch date for them is expected to be sometime in the Spring of this year.

Jeremy Horowitz of iLounge has commented on Twitter that the iPad 2 will continue to live on after the iPad 3 has launched. This is no real surprise. He also comments that the iPad 3 will be 1mm thicker to incorporate an iPhone 4S like 8 megapixel camera and lens system.

A rumour started today indicates that Google [GOOG] is working on creating a 7 inch tablet... perhaps a Nexus Tablet to be more precise. Although this is a rumour, it probably isn't far from the truth. The problem with Android tablets is that none of them have really taken off. We haven't included the Kindle Fire when making that statement, but it is an Android tablet but completely customised to feel different. This of course could mean that Amazon is winning the Android race. Either way, Google is lagging behind and needs to do something about it.
Hackers have managed to extract the Silk browser from the Amazon Kindle Fire and port it over to various rooted Android devices. The Silk browser is Amazons attempt to speed up web browsing. It works by calculating some elements of a webpage server side which speeds up processing time. It also attempts to predict what links you will click on so that your next page will be already calculated and ready to download when you want to go to it.
RedmondPie is reporting that some users are seeing issues with some apps running a little slow on the Galaxy Nexus. Of course, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't lack the power as it's a relatively new device running the latest operating system from Google, Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0. Rather than being a hardware issue, it seems that some of the older apps just aren't quite optimised for Ice Cream Sandwich. Luckily there's a small work around which should help speed things up a little.
iPhone hacker Joshua Hill AKA @p0sixninja has commented on Twitter that 2012 is going to be a good year for jailbreaking. He also mentioned that all people (except unlockers) should quickly update to iOS 5.0.1 and then went on to say "Yes including A5 devices...". This leaves a strong hint that both the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 will soon be jailbroke.
Google has paused the Nexus S Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update due to a few bugs found within. Problems found by those who have updated include issues with battery life, overheating and slow responses on the device.
