After a few months of iOS 5.1 being in beta 3, Apple has now publicly released iOS 5.1. The latest version of iOS is available for the iPad, iPod touch and iPhone and brings several new features although Siri users might be left a little disappointed.

After many months of speculation, Apple has finally unveiled The new iPad. The device is now just called iPad rather than iPad 3, iPad HD or iPad 2S as some had speculated. The reason for this could be to fall in line with how people view the iPod nano, iPod touch, Apple TV etc... each has a generation, but essentially they are not referred to as the Apple TV 3 as an example. We suspect that the next generation iPhone will simply be called iPhone or The new iPhone as it will be listed on the Apple website later on this year.

Back to the new iPad. The key features of this model are the Retina display, 5 megapixel camera with new optics, A5X processor and 4G connectivity to name a few things.

When Apple announces the iPad 3 next week, we expect to hear that it will have a Retina display that has four times the amount of pixels when compared to the current version. The problem with this is that it could cause a number of apps to go over the 20Mb download limit that is imposed on those currently on 3G connections.

A new security loophole has been found in iOS 5 that could potentially allow any app, coded correctly, to gain access to photos stored on your device. The loophole is related to how iOS handles the Camera Roll and how it is possible to let apps have access to that camera roll.

Apple has sent out invites to an event that will be held on March 7 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco. The invite has the line "We have something you really have to see. And touch.". Behind that message appears to be a higher resolution iPad 3.

Rumours have started today about the possibility that Apple might be shrinking down the dock connector in the next generation of iOS devices. The reason behind it is that it would simply save space inside the device and allow for a larger battery or more powerful networking chips to be installed for LTE connectivity.

Realmac Software released a new app a few days ago called Clear. Clear is a todo list type app that helps you keep your tasks in order. The Clear way of being a task manager was to make entering tasks simple. The whole UI is based around gestures. To create an item you pinch for example.
