The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the latest officially backed ‘Google’ Phone, following in the footsteps of the G1 and the Nexus phones. It comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS); the Android OS that is supposed to bring together fragmentation that Android has suffered between tablets and phones.

A new tweak called Overflow is now available for iOS devices that have been jailbroke. Overflow is a Cover Flow style tweak to the dock of an iPad or an iPhone as pictured below.
Last night, Apple [AAPL] made iOS 5 available for download. Although it went live at about 6pm UK time it also ran in to problems for many users who were getting a number of error messages due to the sheer amount of people trying to get the update. Later on in the evening things seemed to settle down a little and download times reduced from a few hours to less than an hour.
If you are willing to Jailbreak your iPhone then you can now get the OS X Lion Ultimatum theme for your smartphone. The new theme attempts to bring the Mac desktop to the small screen iPhone. Carry on reading to see what it does and how to get it.
When Apple announces a new iPad or any other iOS, it comes as no surprise that a HDMI port is not built in. We originally put this down to Apple wanting to control the way we connect to our iPad or iPhone in that we use the standard 30 pin dock connector. We also believed it to be that Apple doesn't want to mess with a design by having a side full of ports. On all iOS devices (not inc Apple TV), Apple keeps a clean look around the edges by having a small amount of buttons and a single port to connect to a computer. The only other slot available is the discretely positioned microSIM slot that hides behind an almost invisible cover.
Chris Alexander has another take on this though in that he says the HDMI port is actually related to costs and licensing. [click to continue…]
iOS 4.3 has hit Golden Master stage which means it's almost ready for launch. When iOS hits this stage, it is common for the public release to follow about a week after. This changed when iOS 4.2 was released due to some WiFi bugs found late in the game, however, it is normal that GM is finalized code.
With the code being finalized, it will now be ready to launch and rumors are hinting that it could be announced alongside the iPad 2 on March 2nd (Wednesday) next week. For those who like to track these things, the build number should be 8F190. [click to continue…]
One of the hot gadgets of 2010 has been the Apple iPad. Ever since it was first revealed back in January of 2010, rumors of the iPad 2 started. Most notably, it was pointed out that no cameras were to be included on the original which then made a good point to start with the iPad 2 rumors.
This post is intends to track all the rumors including what size screen it will have, what type of screen as well as many hardware changes. Also, iPad 2 release dates, or rumored release dates we should say, will be mentioned.
A lot of the rumors start with comparisons against the iPhone 4. This includes the Retina Display, front (and back) facing cameras as well as the flat back. [click to continue…]
SimCity for the iPad has finally launched. The game has been expected for a while now and has finally gone on sale.

According to an alleged email sent from Steve Jobs, we will be seeing AirPlay move over to Safari and 3rd party apps sometime in 2011.
The question was asked by a user of iOS 4.2 on both the iPad and iPhone 4 who asked if the ability to use AirPlay on the said apps would be possible. Another brief but positive answer came back as seen in the email below. [click to continue…]
The Apple iPad 2 release date is expected to be 1 year from the original iPad release date, making it early April 2011. We continue to hear rumours about what will be included in the iPad 2 such as a second dock connector on the landscape side, a better screen, more RAM, smaller screen etc...
Some features that we expect to see include some kind of Retina Display, perhaps not with that title but at least a screen with a pixel density that matches the current Retina Display. We think the screen size will stay the same. We think one camera (perhaps 2) might be included with the front facing camera specifically being used for FaceTime calls. A 3 axis gyro is also a possibility. Basically, you only need to look at how the iPhone advances and then attach that technology to the iPad... and then extra technology is then attached back to the next gen iPhone and so forth. Pico projectors have been a little slow at becoming main stream (not even convinced that they will become that). MicroVision is still pushing ahead with in the Pico Projector field and has now created an iPhone and iPad projector that allows you to project a 100 inch screen from a device about the size of an older mobile phone.
What makes this particular Pico Projector different is that its a laser projector. It is called the MicroVision SHOWWX+ Laser Projector and is said to be 50% brighter than the previous model the company introduced. [click to continue…]
