Prayer Gadget uses RFID Technology
February 19, 2008
I can’t say I have ever in my life written about a prayer gadget before. However, this is now changing as I came across this prayer device which uses RFID technology. In some churches there is a tradition of lighting candles during a prayer. This device is named “for this we pray” and has RFID technology that lights up a wall mounted shrine which is modelled around a stained glass window effect. Several prayer cards can be chosen from and when you swipe one past the prayer gadget a light lights up. As more prayers are read out and swiped past, the more lights are then lit up.
Below is a video of the prayer device in use.
Shape Changing Mouse
February 3, 2008

This mouse is unique as it has the ability to change shape. It will cater for each and everyone’s needs due to it’s ability to morph to the shape of your hand. The Moldable Mouse is made of non-toxic modelling clay covered in a fabric made of nylon and polyurethane. With the ability to change shape it minimises risk of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The buttons on the mouse are touch sensitive and actually stick on to the mouse so they can move position as required. They use RFID technology to communicate and allow the clicks to be noticed by the computer.
It’s a great idea and one I hope goes ahead and moves out of the concept phase.
VideoTrace
February 3, 2008
VideoTrace is a cool program which allows you to take a short movie of an object and then quickly create a 3D model from it. To do this you capture a short video moving around the object and then you can draw polygon shapes around features of the object. You then skip forward or backwards a few frames, re adjust the 3D points to match them up better and after several minutes you have a fully working 3D model which you can use/duplicate across the scene.
For a full demonstration check out the video after the jump.
Dell Crystal Display
January 4, 2008

Dell announced that they are selling a seriously cool looking LCD display. It is named the Dell Crystal Display and measures 22″. The max resolution for this LCD is 1680 x 1050 and it has a very good response time of just 2ms. Built in to the Dell Crystal Display is a webcam as well as 4 speakers. The cost… Just $1199. Although very pricey I have to admit that it does look great.
