ChargeCard Kickstarter project triples its goal with time to spare

Although we didn’t cover the ChargeCard project on KickStarter when it first appears on July 18th… not sure why as it looks amazing! I see today that they have 63 hours to go at the time of writing this and have raised three times more than their goal of $50,000. At the moment they have raised $151,248 funded by 5,173 backers. Impressive numbers! That amount of cash puts them in the top 50 of all KickStarter projects ever funded.

Next 7 tablet in-car mount

The Google Nexus 7 is the perfect size for using as a media device in a car. The 7 inch screen allows it to almost fit in a double DIN dash. This is the second in-car installation we have seen although this one is the least intrusive as the casing to hold the Nexus 7 in place simply attaches to the standard dash with magnets. The other Nexus 7 installation required some modifications to be made to the vehicle.

Google self-driving cars log over 300,000 miles of automated driving

Google [GOOG] has been working on self driving cars for a number of years now. Over time the company has managed to fine tune the technology so that they are almost in a position to be used on the roads. In fact, one state has already approved them although the rule is that a driver needs to be behind the wheel to monitor things.

AppleCare Reps Get OS X Mountain Lion Early

Apple will be launching the next version of OS X Mountain Lion within the next week or so. Some are hinting that it could arrive this Wednesday. In preparation for the launch of the new operating system, it appears that Apple has been seeding the new version to AppleCare reps within the company. The reason for this will be so that they can become familiar with the operating system so that they can provide support on the day of launch.

How to Make an Invisible Car – (Almost Invisible)

Mercedes has created an almost invisible car to market the latest F-Cell vehicle. To make it almost invisible, the company installed a number of LEDs on one side of the car and then on the other side of the car they fit a camera. The camera on the right of the car took an image which was then displayed on the left side of the car which effectively made it a little invisible.

Square Card Readers Available to T-Mobile Business Customers

The Square card reader is a device that allows stores to accept card payments on an iPhone. The reader attaches to a headphone jack of an iPhone and allows the card to be scanned in to an iPhone which runs an app that sets the price and accepts the payment.

T-Mobile is beginning to offer the Square card reader at the point of purchase to business owners who subscribe to a particular plan on the network.

Google Provides Its Carbon Emission Details

Google has created a website that details the carbon emissions of the company. The general data shows that the company emits about 1.5 million tons per year of carbon although thanks to custom designing each of its datacentres they have managed to cut down the original numbers by 50%.

Apple Ships Near Final Build of iOS 5 to Carriers

Carriers around the world are beginning to receive an almost finished version of iOS 5 for testing purposes. One of the main differences with this version is that it’s further on than the current iOS developers (beta 7) update and is believed to bring text-to-speech technology to the OS.
