Reports are indicating that the next generation iPad, likely to be called the iPad 3, will be announced early in March and will be launched about a week after that to follow on from the mid-March release date of the iPad 2 last year.

With just a week expected between the announcement and launch a number of developers are beginning to prepare Retina resolution graphics just in case the new model does have a Retina display. Remember that when the iPhone 4 launched there were a few weeks in which developers could recreate graphics to match the higher resolution screen. This thought also follows along with an email sent out by this week to Apple developers which requested that all images for the iTunes store were sent in a Retina resolution which hints that the 3GS is coming to the end of its life soon. Also, it could be a hint that we will soon see the same email about submitting higher res iPad screenshots to the store.

A new charging cable for the iPhone and iPad has launched. This one is a little different as it uses light within the cable to indicate how much a device is charged. The light, blue in colour despite the Green name,
has a moving effect that speeds up or slows down depending upon how much your device is charged. The more empty the battery, the faster the light moves in the cable.

Please note that the Apple TV and new Apple TV are different in that the current generation model is a device that connects to a regular TV. The new Apple TV is a whole TV that will have iOS integrated. A mockup/render is found below.

Rumours have started circulating again about the future of the iPhone and the next generation model. It is currently being called the iPhone 5 which is quite possible although some argue it could be the iPhone 6. Either way, that's not too important right now.

What the latest rumours say is that the iPhone 5 will not have a tear-drop design, but that it will have a 4 inch screen and be slightly taller and slightly wider than the current iPhone 4S. We also hear that Apple will be switching back to a summer launch for the device.

Last week, various blogs reported that Singapore operator M1, was about to launch an iPhone 4S without a camera. The reason for it is related to the military in that country prohibiting the use of mobile phones with cameras. To get around that regulation, M1 has removed the cameras from the iPhone 4S and is selling it without. With the modifications, the iPhone 4S is now approved for use.

It was a big day for Apple yesterday and certainly a day where an industry is shaken up a little. Before I begin I'll just comment that this needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as it contains an iPad 3 (or 2S) rumour.

A case manufacturer has created a new case that has been designed for an iPad 2S. The company believes that the new iPad will be a small update similar to that of the iPhone 4 to 4S. The main difference with dimensions will be that it is slightly thicker as previously rumoured.
