How Star Wars Computer Graphics were made

by Matthew on November 19, 2009

star wars episode iv 300x354 How Star Wars Computer Graphics were madeIf you remember the graphics from Star Wars IV then this cool video shows you almost exactly how they were made. The graphics were created by Larry Cuba in the 70’s over at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) in Illinois, Chicago.

In the video you will see how the computer graphics for the scene were they are showing how to destroy the Death Star were made. By using wire frame models (far more basic than what we see nowadays) the scene of the Death Star turret was able to be created. Although a lot more basic then what we see today, it still actually surprised me what they could achieve back in the 70’s. [click to continue…]

Han Solo Frozen in carbonite desk 300x333 Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite Custom Built DeskWhat you see here is a “sci-fi themed desk” which is basically a more legal way of saying it’s a Han Solo Frozen in Carbonite desk. by Matthew on August 26, 2009

star wars force trainer combo 272x300 Star Wars Force TrainerWe have already mentioned the Star Wars Force Trainer a few months back, but as it’s now available at ThinkGeek we thought we’d mention it again.

The Force is all around us. It flows around and through us. by Matthew on July 17, 2009

Star Wars R2 Q5 USB Hub 300x250 R2 Q5 for those who Want something DifferentR2-D2 is always one of the droids you think of when you see Star Wars. The R2-Q5 USB Hub was designed for those who want something different though.
