Skymedia Pro 3 Axis Camera Mount

Cool 3 Axis Camera Mount
The Sykmedia Pro is a 3 Axis gyrostabilised camera mount which allows you to tilt, pan and roll your camera. The unit is built to attach to RC flying planes, zeppelins or helicopters and allows for stable video recording of what is on the ground. As can be seen in the demonstration it seems to work quite well although a little bit of shakiness can be seen on one of the Axis which I believe has been fixed by now. Another video of a similar Skymedia Pro system can be seen after the jump.
Remote Controlled Dinosaur
May 30, 2007

Remote control toys have entertained for years, from cars to more recently the Picoz helicopter. Now firebox has bought forward a new concept in the race to evolve RC toys - an RC dinosaur. Named the Pterosaur, it has a range of 100ft and can be used indoors and outdoors. This prehistoric reptile flies by flapping its wings and is ready to fly straight from the box. Once the original charge has depleted, it is simple to recharge - it just uses the portable quick charger. (the hand-held control) If you are afraid that a small crash may have catastrophic consequences - possible extinction - then be put at ease, the Pterosaur has a durable foam body that should withstand day to day impacts.
Laser Tag Helicopters
May 16, 2007

Helicopters are cool, especially when they are remote controlled. Mix two RC helicopters together with a game of laser tag and you are on to a winner. This set of helicopters has just that. You have 2 helicopters which are armed with a transmitter and sensor. If one shoots the other then the injured helicopter quickly looses power and falls to the ground dead. This could give hours of entertainment. The only sucky side of all this is that RC helicopter battery life generally isn’t that long.

Palmsize Helicopter - RC Living Room Flyer
April 27, 2007

Tiny RC helicopters are great fun to play with. The main one you are probably aware of is the Picoz which came out late last year. The palmsize helicopter looks to be slightly smaller then the Picoz and it capable of being fully controlled. The helicopter can be turned left or right as is slowly moves forwards. It can also take off right from the palm of your hand. This is a perfect toy for those like me who like toys in the office.
The helicopter comes in 2 colour which are red or silver and each has a different frequency which allows 2 helicopters to be flown together. Luckily the helicopter is light enough not to actually break when it crashes.
The remote control is infrared, so you need to be in line of sight to use it although you would be stupid attempting to fly a helicopter you couldnt see. Attached on the front is a Multi colour LED for night flying. The helicopter is supposed to be flown indoors but can fly outside if there is ZERO wind. I did try an indoor helicopter once outside and smashed it with in seconds because of ignoring a zero wind rule
For 15 mintues of charging you can get around 7 minutes of flying time… so maybe you need to purchase 3 to keep one in the air constantly.

The Foldable Helicopter - Inspector Gadget
April 10, 2007

For some reason the idea of a foldable helicopter reminds me of Inspector Gadget although it would be a little too large to fold up inside your hat. This foldable helicopter unfortunatly never flew because of the absence of an engine to run it. It is still a great idea though and I could imagine flying my self to work in the city and setting down on the roof of the office.

Indoor RC Plane - Aero Soarer
March 22, 2007

Indoor RC toys are becoming more popular over the last year or so. The Picoz RC Helicopter is one of my favorite due to it’s tiny size and the ability to fly around your living room and not destroy anything.
Tomy have now released the Aero Soarer which is an indoor RC plane. It weighs next to nothing with it being made from polystyrene (Styrofoam for you in the US) and is light enough to fly without much power. The planes controller has 2 functions. The first is the controller for the plane which allows you to increase the the throttle which makes the plane go up and decrease to go down, also it allows you to steer the plane. The second function is that it doubles as a charger for the plane. There is no mention of how long it takes to charge, but average usage for RC flying toys are around 5 - 10 minutes of flying on about 20 - 30 minutes of charging.
The Aero Soarer is also customisable although I am not 100% sure yet how you can customise it. Maybe you can chop off a bit of the wing and shape it better, or maybe add LEDs.
It is available from Play-Asia for $19.90.

FlyTech RC DragonFly
February 9, 2007

RC flying toys are great. The FlyTech RC DragonFly ads a unique twist to the range of flying planes and helicopters by actually having wings. To make this actually work the DragonFly is constructed with light weight material. This allows the flapping wings to give enough uplift for this to fly. As seen in the video after the jump, the dragonfly can be kept in control, be used indoors and be a lot of fun to fly.
