Samsung’s QWERTY Phone Keyboard Idea

A new patent was filed by Samsung that shows a new, kind of odd looking, QWERTY style keyboard that sweeps out from the sides of the phone.

The keyboard is split in half with each half being on the left or right of the phone. When the keyboard is needed you simple open up both sides making a QWERTY keyboard.

I can’t say it’s the best idea I have seen as it seems like a step in the wrong direction as it would require more hardware, slightly more complexity and in my opinion, it looks odd.
