The Samsung Galaxy S is an Android smartphone that has scored well in reviews. As well as doing well in terms of looks and performance, it also just received DivX HD certification (the second phone to get it).
Other news indicates that the four inch Super AMOLED screen is actually protected by Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is a hardened glass that prevents scratches hitting it. This tough glass is also used in smartphones such as the iPhone 4 as well as others such as an LG model.
Gorilla Glass is only starting to pick up in terms of what it is used for. The technology was invented almost 50 years ago but only had commercial application starting in 2008. It is expected that over the coming years that TV's and other mobile devices will start using the glass to protect from scratches. The glass is breakable, but at the same time is a lot stronger than regular glass and is ideal for smartphones due to the technical abilities it has such as being thin, strong and workable with capacitive touch.
