The Portable Digital Magnifier allows you to zoom in to many items and see them close up. Rather then working through a standard magnifying lens like the old method, this device mixes that with an LCD screen allowing you to take a close up spy of things on screen instead. As the name suggests, the device is portable and has varying zoom levels allowing you to see real close to objects. Images are displayed on a 2 inch screen. The beauty of this device is the ability to freeze frame while you observe an object.
Zoom is controlled by a scroll wheel. When flicking through you can zoom from 5x up to 20x in increments of 1. If the area is dark then 3 LED’s can light up your subject. Supplied with batteries, the portable digital magnifier charges via a USB cable which is a nice addition. The device costs $179.99 and is available from ThinkGeek.

Interesting concept on these gadgets. Given that it has USB sync, I presume that you can store the image as well, which would be very useful for later comparison.
