Pico Projector
January 5, 2007

Mobile phones have been shrinking in size since they first launched years and years ago. As phones have got smaller, the screens have from time to time, got larger. But, there is only so far you can go in screen size before your mobile device is not very mobile any more. As storage increases, more and more can be put on to them such as full length feature films. With the mobile screen still being small, it often is difficult to sit and watch a movie for the full duration and for this reasons, mobile phones tend to be good for short movie clips or playing MP3s.
The PicoP (or Pico Projector) is set to answer this problem. Microvision is developing a tiny projector that will fit in to your mobile device and project a screen the size of a laptop screen. We do not have many details yet, but if they manage to pull this one off then this will be huge. With the screen the size of a laptop and mobile phones becoming more powerful every year, we are bound to see smaller pocket sized devices with screens the size of what we need. I understand that a wall or other surface is needed, but the potential has been created to bring some seriously cool mobile devices in to the market. I have always been a fan of getting as much as you can crammed in to mobile phones and the PicoP is another fine example of what should be included in your phone.
As we receive more details we will pass them to you. For now you can check out Microvision for more details.
