It seems from a statement released recently by Palm that they are actually open to people jailbreaking their phones. Normally jailbreaking is a big hate of the manufacturers and networks and leads to more secure updates which then get hacked again and so on. Palm on the other hand, have a far more relaxed attitude it seems.
“We recognize that some developers will experiment in ways that cross official boundaries, but we believe that our formal offerings – and community efforts built around those offerings – will provide the best experience for the vast majority of webOS developers and users.”
It’s actually good news that they recognise that a small fraction of developers will experiment and push the boundaries as well as crossing them from time to time in terms of jailbeaking, but at the same time it seems Palm also say that they believe they have great offerings for the vast majority of users.
Lets hope this comment means they will allow it to continue to happen.
