Nokia recently ran a competition which had contestants creating applications for it’s S60 3rd edition based mobile phones. The prizes ran up to â‚100k. Each catagory winner will get 25k. 117 developers entered the competition and came out with some nice results.

Best Enterprise Application: Quick Office – Quickoffice Premier 4
This companies software allows you to print direct from your S60 3rd edition mobile phone. It has the ability to open, view and edit Microsoft office documents. Another cool feature is that the software can also present the content.

Best Flash Application: Foreca – Flash Weather
Forcea made a great app which is a weather service on your mobile. It uses state of the art weather services from around the world and presents this data right on your screen.

Best Mobile Music Application: InfoTalk Corporation – Music Finder
InfoTalk have created an app which allows you to search for music with your voice. This prevents the need to scroll through the endless amount of tracks that you can store on your phone. Once the software recognises the voice and track it then launches the default player and plays the song.

Best Location-Aware Service/Application: Augmentra – ViewRanger
GPS has come a long way forward over recent years with applications such as TomTom. GPS devices are now affordable and can be used anywhere, free of charge. Augmentra have created a nice application which uses mobile phone technology, GPS and imaging to create feature rich information on the surrounding area that you are in. All you need is an S60 with Bluetooth and a bluetooth GPS device and you are good to go.
