Nokia has surprised us by releasing information on their latest N series mobile phone. The Nokia N97 looks to be a fantastic phone packed with many features.
Nokia N97 Main Features
* Touch display which slides and tilts to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.
* Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system with touch enhancement.
* Assisted GPS.
* 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss lens.
* The N97 is 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, A2DP Bluetooth and 32GB of onboard memory, plus a slot for another 16GB via MicroSD card.
From looking at the pictures it looks like a more sleek looking Tytn II (Tilt). The touch screen slides back and tilts upwards to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. Nokia classes the N series phones as “multimedia computers” rather then just phones and the N97 is certainly more then a phone. It is packed with 32GB of memory which makes it in to a very capable multimedia computer as it allows you to store a lot of audio and video.
The screen measures 3.5″ and is in a widescreen format at a 16:9 ratio. The screen also features haptic feedback which responds when touching it. A feature that is one of my favourite is the home screen which is capable of displaying live widgets that are able to show information such as Facebook updates, RSS feeds and I assume Twitter. With the Nokia N97 having aGPS built in it also doubles up as a personal navigation device. Nokia Maps V3 can be used with the GPS software.
Other features include an FM radio with transmitter (to transmit songs to a nearby stereo), N-Gage compatibility, 3.5mm headphone jack, TV-Out, 30fps video and a nice battery that can keep music going for 37 hours.
One word to sum this phone up is “incredible”.
