Yesterday, NASA launched newly restored video of the Apollo 11 mission that was taken on July 20th 1969. A number of famous scenes have been enhanced to show more details of what happened on the moon all them years ago.
This first release of the restored video shows 15 key moments from the mission. The video was put together by a team of NASA engineers who worked on the Apollo missions. The other good news is that it's an ongoing project to restore and create even better video. The restoration project still has a couple of months to go which should then reveal the final video for us to see.
The main problem of getting the video is that they were overwritten due to NASA policy at the time to reuse recording tapes. The dull grey videos we see today are what they managed to put together from broadcast versions.
