MultiTouch Screen
March 3, 2007

MultiTouch screens have been in the news a few times recently. What makes them different from the regular touch screens is that they will accept and process more then 1 touch at the same time. The Apple iPhone is one such device that will boast a multi touch screen. The technology reminds me of the Minority Report where Tom Cruise is dragging images across a screen. Ok, we are not at the level of floating images quite yet except for fog type screens from Helio. Anyway, the principle works the same where you can touch the screen, zoom in, rotate and control anything on the screen with greater ease. I cannot see this replacing the mouse or other popular forms of input too soon, but I do see a good market for these types of screens because of allowing more interaction with the device you are using.
