After needing to do a major factory reset on his Motorola DROID, a guy from Droid-Life ended up installing the Android 2.1 Update 1 image that is expected to be officially released OTA shortly.
Brief details on how to install this update yourself have been provided at Droid-Life although the information does point you in to the directions of where to download the update along with a link to find the instructions to install this on your own DROID.
As always... if you decide to go ahead and try this on your own phone then that's your own decision. Potentially you can end up with an expensive brick that's worth nothing. So, make sure you do all your own research before tampering with the innards of your DROID.
