Just a couple of days ago we reported that Motorola had announced on their official Facebook page that the DROID was going to be getting the Android 2.1 update... this week. Well, it appears that someone at Motorola got a little bit trigger happy with the comment and that it's not ready for launch yet. However, a few reports are still saying that although the Facebook announcement from Motorola was made too early, it is actually due out this week. This leaves us all unsure at the moment as to whether this is actually going to happen today, tomorrow or some other time in the future.
What makes us think it isn't going to happen is because the information has been removed from the site with comments on the forum confirming the announcement was released early - see images after the break.
If you are desperate to get your hands on Android 2.1 for your DROID then you could look in to rooting your phone and installing a custom ROM which gives you all the flexibility you need without having to wait for official channels to update and send their OTA updates to you. Just go careful though if you intend to take this path.
