Microsoft seem to be getting ready to to launch Microsoft Office 2010 with an event that will be held May 12. From what we have learned it seems that Microsoft [MSFT] will also be offering it to companies with volume licensing the same day too with copies heading out to the regular stores for personal use arriving in June sometime.
If you already own an Office 2007 suite license it seems like you may get a discount to upgrade. If you buy Office 2007 from now till September 20 you will be eligible to get a free copy of Office 2010.

After using the Microsoft Office 2010 Beta version for the last few months, it appears to be a good step forwards from previous versions and in particlar with Outlook 2010 it runs far quicker than previous versions I have ever used with a search function that works almost instantly.
It will be interesting to see how Office 2010 performs now it has a little competition from others such as Open Office (a free version) and the likes of Google Docs and their suite of apps such as Google Mail, Calendar functions and what not.
