We mentioned recently that LG are launching a new phone named the LG KC910 Renoir. We now hear that the release date will be October 15th in the UK. Now that a few places have managed to get their hands on all the details we thought it would be good to take another look at this amazing 8 mega pixel phone.
The LG Renoir is the next step up from the popular Viewty and is considered to be their flagship phone at the moment. The usability of the Renoir has increased by receiving both software and hardware updates. On the back you will find an 8 mega pixel camera which is fairly huge (in megapixels) compared to what we normally see. Built in features for the camera include smile and blink detection, image stabilization, face detection, a Xenon flash and a Schneider-Kreuznach lens. With the large amount of mega pixels it does allow this device to actually replace the average point and shoot type camera. Mix some nice clear pictures with GPS you get Geo-tagged photos too. Connectivity of this phone is not lacking either as it features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G making a high speed web connection accessible in most situations.
The design of the phone is rather sleek although I am not 100% convinced with the three buttons towards the bottom of the screen. In my opinion the front face should have been kept completely smooth. However, that is not enough to put me off getting one of these if I was in the market for a new phone as the features are just amazing.
On video side there is an output allowing the phone to be connected to a TV so you can show your photos or videos on screen. Video recording can be done at either 30 frames per second or in QVGA mode that jumps up to 120fps which is a feature that is fun to use for capturing events in slow motion. Not only can your own videos be recorded, but you can also play other videos too as the camera phone plays both DivX and XVid formats. The sound system on the phone has had work by Dolby done to it. This allows for a richer listening experience and even more so if hooked up to some nice speakers.
With the phone having a high mega pixel camera and fairly advanced video playback with Dolby audio, it will need some serious storage too. The Renoir is capable of being expanded up to 8GB via memory card.
The screen across the front of the device is a 3 inch touch screen. It runs at a resolution of 400 x 240 pixels. The phone it’s self measures just 14 mm thin making it not only very small, but also the thinnest 8 megapixel camera phone available at the moment. The phone is encased in aluminium and the screen is covered in hardened glass allowing it to be put in your pocket, with keys and no hassle or scratches.
More details about this phone can be found at Dial-A-Phone or Phones4U.
