Fusion Garage have announced that they have gone in to full production of the JooJoo tablet with the first shipments reaching customers by the end of this month.
As well as the first shipments going out in the next few weeks, Fusion Garage have also made a deal with CSL who are one of the largest OEM's in Malaysia. A deal with the CSL group sees that CSL will cover the JooJoo's manufacturing cost and take a cut of each JooJoo sold.
"This is landscape changing manufacturing agreement in the CE hardware market in much the same way Dell changed the PC business model with its direct to consumer sales approach back in the 1990s," said Fusion Garage founder and CEO, Chandrasekar (Chandra) Rathakrishnan. "CSL's confidence in JooJoo and strategic investment enables us to concentrate on the expansion of our organization, software development and, ultimately, building a world class CE company."
The JooJoo was first unveiled in December 2009 after an interesting breakup with TechCrunch who wanted to call the tablet device the CrunchPad. The JooJoo has a 12.1 inch screen and is an ultra-thin device that allows full page viewing of the internet from a large touch-screen device.
