Jabil Circuit are creating a technology which allows an LCD screen to show two images at the same time. Depending on what angle you are looking at the screen will depend on what you will be watching. This kind of screen is perfect in cars where kids either cannot come to an agreement on what to watch, or in the front where the driver can see the sat nav while the passenger can watch a DVD. The technology called two-way-view should start to become available in cars around 2010 which is about 2 – 3 years away. No pricing has been given yet although in 3 years no doubt it would be way cheaper then today’s current prices for regular LCD screens. If dual view isn’t enough for you then Sharpe are planning a triple view system.
It appears that this type of screen could be very useful for driver/passenger situations so that the driver does not have to be distracted from what he should be doing.
